The food is always the same quality across the board and doesn't vary depending on "good or bad days". It's a standard NJ diner. Not below par, and not above par. It's usually a little darker in there than I'd prefer but the staff is generally friendly and always hospitable. Good for a place to get your food quickly and without any surprises. Give them a try if you haven't already!

Sage Diner is a pleasant, typical New Jersey Diner. The menu offers a wide variety of food, serves breakfast all day, and has a selection of fresh pastries. The prices are reasonable and won't scare even the frugal away. The staff is very much what one expects to see at a diner, as they are friendly, conversation-ready, observant, and expedient. It does get busy during peak hours, but if you are like my wife and I, you will manage to find a fairly quiet atmosphere just outside of these hours. Highly recommended for those who have a love of New Jersey diners and those who are completely new to the phenomenon.

I ordered a cup of soup and half of a turkey sandwich. The sandwich was good. However, the beef barley soup was barely warm and overloaded with thickening agents. The taste was mediocre at best. My wife accompanied me but wasn't very hungry. So she only ordered a diet Coke. At that point the waitress informed us of a $5 sitting fee if food was not ordered. The waitress said she would appeal to the owner, but he would not back off on the fee. So my wife also ordered the beef barley soup, which was less expensive than the sitting fee. My wife didn't like the soup and barely consumed any of it.

Great food and great service! My only complaint would be that the exterior of the diner could use a cleaning. It's starting to look dirty. Otherwise, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick bite to eat!

Tryed this Diner for the first time tonight. Order a slice of chocolate cake and the cake is literally hard, it feels like I have a brick in my box. Although they said that they cut it today the cake taste at least a week or two old. And very dark and gloomy inside the diner not welcoming at all D+ rating on diners in New Jersey to me
