This place is a national monument really close to the Mexican border. For the most part it is a safe place to stay. Also they have a beautiful mountain loop that is good for either driving around or taking a hike up the trails. Overall it is a wonderful place to send the day look at all the cactus and breath taking desert scenes. They also have a camp ground where you can stay the night if needed.

Great place to stop on your way to or from Rocky Point, Mexico. And great place for hiking, camping, day tripping - all that nature stuff. They actually have a very rare albino cactus (it's a very light yellow/white color). The visitor center is great - very interesting. Everything is always very clean and everyone is always pleasant. Have been hiking, camping, day tripping here many times over the past 25 years.

This review is about the Twin Peaks Campground - absolutely loved it! My husband, dog and I planned to only camp here for 2 nights over New Years. But we discovered that the campground actually gets great Verizon & AT&T reception and we work remotely, so we were able to stay for a week and work here! Spacious sites, not crowded, beautiful cacti throughout, super affordable at $16/night, very quiet, picnic benches, awesome sunsets, dog-friendly in the campground and at the campground perimeter trail. As with all national monuments/parks, more dog-friendly (on-leash) trails are needed throughout though. Nice to check out the free ranger programs at the nearby amphitheater at 7pm daily. Generator time of 8-10am and 4-6pm was enough to keep laptops charged and work full-time. People respect those hours, which is nice. Dump station and fresh water station that we drove over to every few days. This campground was very hard to leave & I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it!

Amazing landscape, interesting flora. Campground is nice. Flush toilets and showers. Bring your own soap and towels, even just to wash your hands. Water is available. See if you can get a Ramada at the campsite when you check in.

Having just visited Saguaro NP, I continued onto Organ Pipe NM. In February, the weather was amazingly warm. The road between the parks wasn’t the best. Much of it was narrow (no shoulders), twisty, and the pavement not in the best of shape. More surprising, though, were border patrol agents. They were everywhere in just about every mode of transportation possible. I have to admit I was concerned about visiting Organ Pipe alone, being on the Mexican border. Having black hawk helicopters flying close overhead was a bit concerning. Between check points and agents seemingly behind every bush (in vehicles, on horse back and also the copters), I eventually shifted to a feeling of maybe being a little safer. But it was mind-blowing. This is a fantastic park encompassing 517 square miles. It is also designated an International Biosphere Reserve. My biggest disappointment was being told that there was no campground (not prepared) only to find one here. One can definitely spend more than an afternoon here. Like Saguaro NP protecting its namesake, Organ Pipe NM protects a large section of the Sonoran Desert where the northern population of organ pipe cactus reside. But there is so much more here, well worth a visit.
