Good food and pricey compared to other places. Limited lunch menu. A couple of times I was here for take out and was ignored for tables service even though it wasn't that busy. I ended up leaving. Never again. I found a better place called The Mandarin with better service and food. Chinese food fantastic

Our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Buddha's Feast is my mainstay dish, I order it almost every time we go. Their mock meats are very good: Their sweet-and-sour sauce is much better than average so we get that a lot too. They have a variety of seasonal vegetable dishes, usually with garlic. Their luncheon plates are a really good value. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

This is one of those long-running Chinese restaurants that caters to mostly American customers. In other words, do not expect authentic food. Should one expect authentic Chinese cuisine in Carlsbad? Although I've dined in Carlsbad several times, even stayed in town for some time once, this was only the second time we went Chinese. Expectations aside, this is definitely not one I want to recommend. Overseas Restaurant sits at the outskirt of Carlsbad Village, is spacious, comfortable, and traditionally decorated. We entered a little after 7pm on a weekday, and was quickly seated. The owner was very kind and enthusiastic. There were many diners, though few were Asian. All signs point to a "traditional", i.e., Cantonese-origin Chinese restaurant. Yet the menu contains dishes from practically every major cuisine in China. Then the owner recommended twice cooked pork, a marquee Szechuan dish. Every taste in this dish was wrong except the smells. A stir-fried water spinach dish that the owner recommended also came out bland. As a rule, having all Chinese cuisines on the menu is usually a bad sign. It is like saying a restaurant is French Italian German Russian. (You can read my other reviews about exceptions to this rule.)

Love the atmosphere and the food was great. Would definitely go back and recommend to all my family and friends.
