While in downtown Carlsbad we stopped in to sushi Yama and had a quick snack of sushi wow they have so many varieties and all fresh and made to order I completely enjoyed our meal there although my wife does not eat sushi. So I gladly had her portion and if you are in the mood for sushi and in downtown Carlsbad Sushi Yama is pretty good.

This is my new favorite for sushi in Carlsbad. All the rolls are amazing. The server was very friendly, despite being overworked. I noticed only one server trying to serve a rather busy lunch crowd, so I felt bad for her and gave her a big tip. Outdoor seating is amazing. Price is average for a sushi restaurant.

A solid sushi option at reasonable prices. For daytime dining, a number of rolls on the menu are 50% off, noted by a "**" next to the item. Very nice. Over several lunchtime visits so far, Sushi Yama has been consistently good. Quality rolls at $4 to $8 is a win. They also offer a variety of hot dishes and other things on a lengthy menu. They offer both indoor and patio seating.

Cool place for sushi on the weekends, live band playing downstairs, outside and inside seating, bathrooms are clean.

Great service. Tasty and fresh sushi! Although the Coyote Bar, directly below, is really loud on a Saturday night, the restaurant window are well enough insulated that you do not hear the band playing.
