My in-laws recommended Paul Flaherty to me to take care of a serious gas furnace issue and to replace my hot water heater in the new home I purchased. By new, I mean, the home was built in the late 19th century, and the previous owner had done a lot of work himself and it was not very good. Not to mention, the bulkhead was covered up and we needed to pull apart a deck to make it happen. Paul did an awesome job fixing the furnace just in time for the cold weather and installed the proper water heater into my home. Paul and his team were very professional and did not charge me an arm and a leg, which is fantastic because as we all know, after you buy a home, you basically have no money. We knew the furnace and water heater were going to be a problem when we bought the home and Paul hit exactly what we expected to pay! I highly recommend him and his team.

I contacted Paul Flaherty Plumbing & Heating to do some work on a property under my care. Nick arrived on time and listened as I reviewed the issues I was aware of. He performed a whole house check and made reasonable recommendations for repair. The work was more extensive than expected and he arranged his schedule to spend the whole day doing repairs. He had to return a second time to complete the job and worked with my schedule to get it done. I have also spoken to Paul Flaherty on two occasions and found him to be very attentive and willing to work with me to obtain the desired results. I would recommend them without hesitation. L

Before I start I would like to express that I am confident that the work done on my property was done correctly and in all likelihood, I do not expect problems related to this work in the near future. I went with Flaherty Plumbing because personal connections to the company, I would never expect to get treated like this by a company I have these connections to. I contacted Flaherty Plumbing 2 weeks ago now and have yet to recive any response. To sum this work up, I paid $1934.89 for a plumber to spend 3 days installing a toilet, a kitchen sink and a gas stove. All of these items where purchased before this job was started, meaning that nearly the entire sum of this cost was labor. The sum of the initial consultation for these jobs (provided by a plumber called Brian) came to less than $800. Effectively making the initial consultation meaningless and thus a waste of time and money. According to the job paperwork that time is listed as: -SERV CALL, .5 hours, $85 - Brian, .5 hours, $65 Total Initial consult: $150 A plumber named John handled the majority of the work. The final product of John's work is fine and will likely avoid problems in the future. However, the inefficient use of time and approach to work is infuriating. The communication between Brian (the initial consultant) and John was clearly non-existent as John was completely unaware of the jobs to be done (further re-enforcing that the initial consultation was a waste). This lack of communication was further illustrated when John gave me a cost estimate of about $1200 (I understand this was just an estimate, but when is 50% increase over a quote acceptable?). John started by installing my toilet, this was a mistake as he knew he would have to remove the toilet to get at the kitchen plumbing behind the wall that the toilet was next to, thus needing more time to re-install the toilet when other work was done. This exercise in redundancy does not account for much time wasting but does point out the inefficiency with which the work was done. The second day of John's work, John bought some help in the form of Dan (an apprentice). John explained that he had asked for help so that we could send that help to go pick up supplies for the plumbing under my kitchen sink. Having seen the status of the sink the day before I would have expected John to come prepaired, the sink did not need any abnormal parts (just pvc and new shutoff valves). In spit of John's absent minded approach to supplies, paying Dan's hourly rate to get supplies is better than paying John's. Dan would get supplies while John worked, thus shortening the total hours on the project. Unfortunately, Dan cannot drive. I have no idea why Dan was assinged to my job. I ended up paying both of them to spend at least 2 hours going out and picking up supplies. Had Dan been able to drive, this, at the very least would have reduced the time John spent on the clock by about 2 hours and perhaps eliminate the need for John to come back a 3rd time. I cannot see any excuse for Dan's time on this job. I witnessed him collecting equipment and unboxing my kitchen sink before install. I will not claim That the time Dan spent on this job was a complete waste but it was likely very close. Time Wasted: John: at least 2 hours ($130 per hour) Dan: up to 4.5 ($65 per hour) Wasted Sum on work: from $260 to $552.50 Total Wasted sum for this job plus pointless consult: Between $410 and $702.50 I should express that this is ONLY the wasted time that I witnessed. I have no means of Identifying how the time spent picking up supplies was spent (did they go to the suburbs for supplies or somewhere local?). I did not watch the whole job but suspect that I should have as the wasted time I saw in casual observation is likely just the beginning. I suppose I should be happy the work is done. UPDATE: Shortly after posting this review I was contacted by Paul Flaherty whom refunded me $410. I am please with the final outcome but annoyed at the process it took to get here. Had them install a dishwasher hook up 8 years ago. The pipe to the drain fell off on its own and flooded the ceiling below. The manager would only guarantee workmanship for one year. Clearly can’t count on them for work you’d like to last for more than 8 years.

Came to the house for a leak in kitchen sink. "Fixed"leak and three more happened. Came out to fix 2 of them. The third call (leak) owner was supposed to call me and didn't. They scheduled a time to come out never showed and when I called to inquire said a time was not scheduled because I complained that they were not fixing on previous service calls. No one ever said appt was canceled and owner never called. Poorly run customer service and obviously business.
