Beware of Perle Jewelers in Naperville, IL.  I went there today to have the batteries replaced on 3 expensive watches.  The woman said the cost would range from $15 to $25.  I gave her the watches.  She said she would check with someone to see if the batteries could be replaced and went into the back room.  When she came back out, she said the cost would be $25, $45 and $65.  Are you kidding me??  I couldn't believe they wanted to charge me $135 for 3 simple watch battery replacements.  I smelled a scam and immediately left their store.  I went across the street to Costello Jewelry which charged me $65 for the 3 watch battery replacements.  I told the employees what Perle wanted to charge me and was told that other customers have told them similar stories.  I will never go to Perle again.  I would give them a rating of zero stars if I could but that's not an option so I have to go with 1 star.

I received 2 Citizen watches for my retirement. The bands needed to be adjusted and I went to Perle as they sold Citizen watches and I asked if they could adjust the bands for me. They said it would cost $40 and I would have to leave the watches - which would mean another trip to Naperville. I said no thanks - I had looked online and saw that to adjust the band was an extremely minor thing to do. I went to Carson's at Yorktown and an extremely nice sales person adjusted the bands (it took less than a minute) for free. No way would I shop at Perle.

My boyfriend and I went here with the hopes that they could help us create an engagement ring with detailed hand engravings. At that point they were very optimistic about creating the ring for us. They required a deposit before they would begin the work, and at first they assured us that they could create the ring exactly how we wanted it. Within a very short amount of time, however, they started to tell us that there were parts they would not be able to replicate. This made us suspicious and after being led on for two weeks we decided to look somewhere else. After finally having the setting for the ring completed by another jeweler, we went back to Perle to see if they could set our diamond for us since that was something they seemed very confident in completing in our earlier encounters. After approaching them for a second time, they told us that the setting we had custom made to fit our diamond was too small and they would have to rebuild the entire top of the setting to allow for a fit. We then found a different jeweler who was able to perfectly set our diamond without altering the setting. Be wary of the promises they lure you with as we found them to be deceitful.
