I have been coming to this store for years. Unfortunately I have no choice due to the fact that other pet stores are further away. 
The staff is usually friendly but it gets two stars because it is always understaffed.
It is so hard finding an employee. There's always one cashier but never an available floor associate. They are nowhere to be seen. The average time spent inside is 15 minutes because it takes that long to wait for the cashier to complete a transaction, interrupt them to call for an associate and wait for one to appear.
Every time I've been in that store, there is always new stock on the sales floor, sitting on a flatbed handcart as though as the one associate never has time to complete restocking. Employee turnaround must be frequent because I hardly ever see the same employees twice. 
This store is obviously mismanaged.

Large well lit sure. Friendly staff, once you get their attention. They are overworked.

The only reason I was going here was for food. Nothing else is really great. So let's talk about dog safety. I was here earlier looking at harnesses and an employee came up to me and my puppy. The pup is a rottie mix (high predisposition for aggressive behavior). The employee then proceeds to grab my puppy's leg to try to get her in a harness. I told her not to do that. She then grabbed my puppy's leash and tried forcing this harness on my dog. Stupid thing to do. My dog didn't bite her, thankfully but it was highly probable. If she pulls this ridiculous behavior with the wrong dog, she's going to get her face torn up. If you're going to be working around animals especially dogs, YOU need to be aware of behavior that is unacceptable. Petco needs to teach these people how to approach dogs which is like this....you don't! You dont approach dogs. At all. Save ypurself a lawsuit, Petco and invest in some knowledge training

Every single time I go to this specific Petco, regardless of whether I'm buying one item or a basket full, checking out is always a huge pain. Either there is nobody at the register, they are on their phone, they just don't know what is going on, not paying attention, or have to get the nonexsist manager involved. Needless to say I dread running out of reptile food or need a specific dog item I cannot get at the grocery store for the sheer fact of having to shop here.
