I would give a big fat zero if I could. It is insane that it’s required to put in new power vent pipes when replacing a high efficiency water heater. The old pipes work perfectly and now we are having to spend EXHORBITANT amounts to fix something that isn’t even broken. This expense is a burden on homeowners and a HORRIBLE addition to the code.

Part of the problem is they send a different inspector (for the same type of inspection) and each one will want something different than the previous guy. They also will contradict each other, as well. It's almost as if they are trying to make it as frustrating and difficult as possible. We had one mechanical inspector tell our friend to do something he thought to be incorrect. as the inspector insisted it be done his way, he did it. Guess what? The next inspector that came out not only "dinged" us for it, he called the work illegal....ILLEGAL. So the first guy told us (insisted upon it) to do something that was illegal. Great. Further, when I called this last time after a 3 hour wait after their "30 minute call ahead" and still no show, the woman that answered the general line refused to give me her name and transferred me (twice) to a nonworking extension. If someone refuses the simple courtesy of supplying their first name, there's an issue and it directly reflects on the entire department.

In my 27 years in the trades, from 3 different States - I have NEVER had such a poor experience as I have had with this Building Department. No one is on the same page, common sense does not exist.

Jack who is the Chief Plumber and point of contact for me was a horrible contact for both myself and my clients. Terrible customer service. Terrible execution.

Very difficult to deal with. They love to transfer people to voicemail and never call back. Website is difficult to use and apparently full of incorrect information.
