Great little national park! Made into an NP in 2013 and Can't believe I just found out about it. I had to visit ASAP! I wasn't disappointed. Perfect for day hikes or camping. I Visited the east side for a few hours and did the Bear Gulch cave hike. The cave was out of this world! Never visited a cave like this before. Might be a little wet inside, you meander through at times ducking under rocks, and you climb to the top and visit a reservoir at the end. Can't wait to go back and visit the west side. Don't forget to patronize the Visitor Center! Support our national parks!

The cave is awesome. Definitely bring flashlight. Use iPhone as flashlight is probably not a good idea as floor is hard rock if dropped will most likely crack your screen. Parking is limited on busy weekend but shuttle is convenient (every 10 minures but of course depends on how long the line is)

A great National Park so close to the Bay Area. Very nice for hiking. Fun caves and a beautiful lake at the top. Easy enough to go with small kids for a day trip. Really nice staff.

It's a great weekend getaway especially if you're in the San Francisco Bay Area. I would say it's a hidden gem. Great for hiking, a good mix of strenuous and moderate hikes with changing views - rock formation, caves, jungles, grasslands. The high peaks trail has panoramic views and is the right mix of thrill and adventure. We also did the Balconies Cave trail. Recommend doing it to get some adrenaline rush. We could do it with our phone flashlights!

It is amazing to climb through the caves, although it is a bit early for my 3year old son. You'd better have headlights. Light torch is less useful since sometimes you need both hands.
