Absolutely beautiful place with stunning scenery. Every which way you look it is gorgeous. It's well known for a reason. That said, they close the park at 5 p.m. Sunset was at 4:56 pm. Sunset time changes as the time of year changes, and closing time is generally at sunset. If you're like me, and one of the reasons you came is to view the gorgeous sunset and Civil Twilight over the stunning scenery this is a big problem. Many state parks I've been to are open from dawn to dusk, and that extra 30 to 45 minutes of open time at the end of the day is enough to allow you to see the gorgeous scenery in the best light and still make it out. This is directly the reason the eye doctor who stars in my review. It's a gorgeous place, but it's not worth the $10 in in my opinion if I can't see it in the best light.

Point Lobos is likely my favorite place to go hiking due to its incredible scenery. The park includes coastal trails and inland hikes which present an nice variety of choices. I wouldn't consider this a highly challenging hiking area for someone that has that experience but it's a really nice place to take a walk and enjoy beautiful scenery. Parking is a bit compact but usually manageable. The park is large enough that even during busy times everyone usually is spread out and there is still a nice sense of quiet.

Beautiful California coastline vistas easily accessed from parking area. This is an easy walk for people of all levels as the paths are mostly flat, wide, and maintained. On the last time (January) I was there I saw numerous seals resting, pelicans cruising, and couple of breaching humpbacks. Knowledgeable docents are on hand too. Dress for brisk winds which can blow cold air off the ocean.

went here with my in-laws. This is a nice place to spend a day with kids as well as older people. There are lots of small trails and many parking lots. Best part is the trails are not too long, which is a plus point when you are with older people. There is a nice picnic area with benches, restrooms and drinking water. Views are extra ordinary. We were able to spot some birds, but could not recognize.

Point Lobos isn't the Crown Jewel for no reason. One of my absolute favorite places on this planet. Easy to get to from the Bay...but let's be honest, it would still be worth it if it was difficult to get to. We were able to make it "hike-able" with a 4 year old and carry a 1 yr old in a carrier no problem. You can make your hike long or short around the park. South Plateau Trail - Bird Island Trail - South Shore Trail - Mound Meadow Trail - Lace Lichen Trail You'll probably end up parkimg far from the entrance if you get there any later than 10:45am. Do yourself a favor and see why Point Lobos is called "The greatest meeting of land and water in the world."
