Story

Paul Race began his career in the jewelry industry at the age of twenty as an apprentice bench jeweler in Charlottesville, Virginia. For the next several years he worked retail and repair ultimately studying design under Gabriel Ofiesh.

In 1989, Race Jewelers was established as an independent wholesale repair business. With Paul’s diligence and attention to detail, he built the client base up to 26 stores. If you had had jewelry repaired in Charlottesville in 1990s, there’s a good chance Paul did it.

His first retail establishment opened at Seminole Square in 1999. He continued wholesale operations until 2004, eventually converting all repairs to retail. He expanded services to include original design and custom jewelry creation.

Since 2010, Race Jewelers has operated at the store on E. Water St. Paul features a tasteful line of rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. He also offers consignment merchandise, and is a fully licensed and bonded purchaser of gold.
