Keller & George Jewelers was established in 1875.

Story

Keller & George Jewelers was established in 1875 when F.A. Balthis opened the doors to his new jewelry business on Main Street in Charlottesville. His cousin Thomas S. Keller, a master engraver serving in the Monticello Guard, joined the firm a year later. In 1885, the two dissolved their partnership and set up separate companies. Harry Alexander George, a trained watchmaker, became a partner in Keller’s company in 1893, and the firm was re-named Keller & George. Keller & George is the oldest retail business in the Charlottesville/Albemarle region. Today Keller & George is the home to many fine jewelry designers such as John Hardy, Hearts on Fire, Marco Bicego, Pandora, Mikimoto and Slane. We also represent several Swiss timepiece brands such as Longines, Tissot, Raymond Weil and more.

They do an amazing job. The whole team from sales to sizing to custom fabrication. Linda in sales has repeatedly gone above and beyond to help me pick out my fiance's engagement ring as she made sure we got exactly what we wanted for wedding bands. If I could I'd give more stars

My fiancé and I walked in here looking to get an estimate on a watch service and no one said hello or even looked at us. Definitely not going back - the two stars are for the storefront and selection, which is interesting.

I must say Gail and the rest of the staff at Keller and George go above and beyond to ensure you are taken care of. Every time you open the door, you are always greeted with a smile by someone on staff. When it comes to buying Jewelry I get very indecisive about what I want for my now wife, myself and family. I want like anyone else to ensure the quality of the pieces are exceptional! Gail recently assisted me with ordering a custom engagement ring and custom wedding bands. I also worked closely with Gail and the jeweler to custom make a one of a kind pendant surrounded in diamonds out of a gem stone my wife and I had purchased on previous travels. I gave the pendant as a wedding gift to my wife on our wedding day. I gave them a budget to work with and they were able to keep it in my range with no problems. Words cannot explain how incredible it turned out, especially since it wasn't an average cut stone, I might have almost shed a tear after seeing it too. During the entire process of purchasing our wedding jewelry Gail kept in constant communication via email and phone to update me on the status of all of our orders. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! As you can see from above, if you want to be taken care of and things done exceptionally right the first time go to Keller and George. Polite and friendly staff, however they were more interested in the upsell than listening to what i was looking for. Good local reputation and nice pieces.

To me a good rule of thumb on telling if you are dealing with a good company is to see how they handle an issue. Many companies put on a face just to get the sale, but then when there is an issue they could care less. I recently had an issue with Keller & George. The manager was very polite and looked into the issue. The manager did not try and blow smoke or give a dozen reasons why they couldn't help. Her primary goal seamed to be upholding the companies image as well as maintaining a good customer relationship. Needless to say the issue was handled and I know have a great respect for this company. I highly recommend this Jewelers to anyone that not only wants quality work, but a company that stands behind both there products and service.
