For a small airport it flows well both inside and out with decent food choices. Before the gates there is a seating area with food vendors. The couches and chairs in this area are far more comfortable than seating at the gates. So if tsa is not so busy you're better off sitting here. Car rental at this airport seems to be much higher than other airports that I have rented from.

I'm sure my fellow passengers will sleep much better at night knowing TSA saved the day and confiscated my small bottle of spreadable coconut oil. TSA - figure out what your position is on the product and be consistent. Every time I go through pre-check (which is often because I travel for work), it's pulled out, debated, and left to the whim of the Agent. First time however the bottle is actually taken from me. So glad I went through the interview process with US Customs and Border Protection to get tripped up over coconut oil. Separate to this, RIC is in desperate need of adding some real dining options.

They cancel flights with informing you and the compensation is s****y at best. If you really need to get somewhere fly out of dulles. It might be a longer drive but it will be worth it, to get to you destination on time.

I don't get the hate for this airport, honestly. It's small, sure, but it's also very easy to navigate. (It's not tiny but there certainly isn't a huge variety in food/shops, either.) Restrooms are almost always clean and parking is easy. It's perfectly fine for regional flights.

Simple and clean airport. I have gone through here many times and it's generally have been an easy and quick line through check in and security. Not much options for food drink and shopping though.
