We stayed one night here for a family gathering. The location is beautiful and the privacy of each cabin was great. However, the cabins haven't been updated since the 70s and, unfortunately, that includes the mattresses. Don't expect a great night of sleep.

Great place to camp! Found this place by google and we walked in a got info and drove around to see what spot we wanted to put our tent for the weekend, and it was perfect. Pinic tables, Grills, long Concreted pad, fire pit ring, and showers all in wooded beautiful views of the water. Clean, safe and quiet.

Roosevelt State Park is a hidden gem. I recently stayed there for the weekend in the lodge. It’s a nice motel type room facing lake Shadow. The rooms aren’t high end but they have an kitchenette. The kitchen has forks and knives for your plate. It has a large spoon for cooking. A pot and a skillet. A oven pan and microwave. There are plastic glasses and plastic plates. The refrigerator is normal apartment size. The ac / heat was wonderful. The bed was ok. The bathroom towels were adequate. The bathroom was fine. The front door and the back door were not easy to open and close. Make sure you check the steel patio door before leaving your room, it wasn’t easy to lock. You have an outdoor patio table and chairs overlooking Lake Shadow. It’s a very safe area. There were very few people there. I don’t think many people in the central Mississippi area understand how beautiful this place is. They have some really nice cabins to stay in. They are all rustic and adequate. If you’re looking to get away this is a fantastic place to stay. It’s good enough for anyone. You’re not going to a state park for luxury you’re going to get away from it all. I thoughly enjoyed myself and will definitely go back again at the same time of the year. I went on November 10th and the weather in Mississippi at that time is perfect. Around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. It can’t get any better than 65 degrees fahrenheit in Mississippi. I’m going for a cabin in the woods next time.

It is an old place. It is quiet and relaxing but it is not the kind of state park most people expect. The cabins were ok.
