Established by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in 1867, Saint Michael’s Medical Center is a 357-bed regional tertiary care, teaching and research center in the heart of Newark’s business and educational district and is accredited by the The Joint Commission. Unbelieve. I can’t believe they call themselves a hospital. I recently had surgery so sitting upright was not an option for me. As soon as I arrived I requested a wheelchair. The front desk clerk, and a Spanish security guard both told me that they don’t have any wheelchairs available. I did my best to accommodate myself by laying down next to connected sectionals in the lobby on the marble desks. I waited two and half hours then along comes a wheelchair they claimed “they didn’t have.” I finally felt relieved then the the security guard said, “oh it’s not for you.” I don’t not want this to unnoticed! Extremely extremely extremely unacceptable. So upon violent exchange of words, nearly three hours later of being in severe pain and severe discomfort I finally get the “wheelchair they don’t have.”

I went to th ER because I had chest pains and the staff did not seem to care. In fact, the nurse who took me in was mean, condescending and talk down to me. She was disrespectful and unprofessional. She had the nerve to tell me I was sick because I was fat. The attending nurse inside hit my hand hard looking for my vein, he was a man. My hand is still swollen three days later.  I'm never returning. I don't recommend this place.

I took my father to the ER thinking he was having a heart attack. I also kept telling them he looked pale and everytime he tried to get up he would pass out so they decided to admit him! We spent 13 hours in the ER waiting for a bed. He started pooping and throwing up blood and started becoming lethargic. I had tons of interns/residents asking me questions while my father became worse. Finally a nurse took charge rushed in and told them that he had to be moved to icu or he was going to lose his life! I signed consent of a blood transfusion in the ER and he didn’t get it an hour later in the ICU because the order was being lost in between the two locations. He was so weak i didn’t think he’d survive his procedure. Meanwhile in icu I saw one of the interns getting  reprimanded  by a doctor because of something he did wrong with my father’s case. Also, do to the lack of blood and 15 hours of BS, his body was so stressed he suffered a heart attack! I’m just praying my father makes it home alive. Now he has a different resident walking into his room every five minutes and each one of them has a different story, smh!  I’ve never been so disappointed, frustrated, and angered in my life! I will never return to that emergency room eve again nor do I recommended it to anyone!! Stay far away from St.Michaels ER!!

The staff on floor 7 laughs out loud of people,  they be talking about patient illnesses out loud.  The most unprofessional people i have seen In my life. Can't wait for my wife to get discharged the nurses, cna's and medical staff the worse of the worse its a chame

I am glad to say i am here for six days i came in really sick they found out what i had and took care of me fast they did a good job nurses,doctor they wete always there checking up on me and they mad me feel good
