We stayed here mid November and it was a great stay. The views were fantastic, it was fun knowing you were on the mountain/in the woods but in nice lodging at the same time. The greatest part was sitting on the balcony over looking the valley. The staff was very friendly, however the menu in the main dining area was very limited and the food was kind of bland. The bar side had some more fun food items and was very nice as well. We will definitely return for more stays.

It's a great place to visit. It's kind of an anchor for your visit to the drive. There are good, real bathroom facilities which is nice to have after enjoying the scenery for a while. The food is pretty good, but the service can be painfully slow, and they restaurant is only open certain hours. The gift shop is the best, offering branded items as well as locally made crafts. Make sure to walk around the property and enjoy.

I have mixed feelings when I think of the two nights I spent at Skyland Resort. First off, it's right in the middle of Shenandoah National Park. This is Skylands top draw and the main reason I gave it a 3 instead of a 2. My room was semi-clean. There were cobwebs in the ceiling and large spider with a nest built on the inside of the window blind. My bathroom was plagued with large millipedes (they kept coming from somewhere, i left a wet shirt on the bathroom floor as I got dinner and there were 2 millipedes on it when I got back). My ice bucket and the 2 plastic cups in the tray were sitting in an inch of water and there were hairs in the sink. The food here is OVERPRICED! 15 bucks for a hamburger, then you have the tip, maybe some drinks and it adds up. It's a crime, they aren't in the middle of nowhere, they are an hour from a number of towns. There's no reason to charge so much for so-so food other then that they can and there's nothing people can do about it without driving back down the mountain.

I stopped by Skyland restaurant as I was motorcycling down south Skyline Drive. It was such a cozy and welcoming place! The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. They accommodated my request for the seat by the window, and were very attentive while serving food. The burger was quite delicious, served nicely. Dessert is a must! They have an ice-cream pie. It's AWESOME. I look forward to my next adventure to Skyland Restaurant :)

The food was very good. The room had no room phone (had to use a cell phone to call the front desk), no TV, no radio, and the alarm clock was plugged into a receptacle controlled by a wall switch so that turning off the lights turned off the clock. The wall heater in the bed room had no control knob for the temperature. The rooms in the suite were spacious and the living room had a wood burning fireplace. The suite had three decks. Not especially good for the solo traveler.
