I needed a new winter jacket and found one I really liked, but it was conveniently the only one I liked. While I'm glad I found one I thought looked good, I wish their selection was better.

Dear Target, I want to SARCASTICALLY thank you for hiring staff that aren’t of color (aka White) that are assumptive and believe customers of color (like myself) are stealing. As I was finishing my purchase at the self-checkout, at 7:30 pm this evening your cashier assumed I was placing items in my purse and came up behind me loudly yelling, “Hey guys” and proceeded to place plastic bags on top of the bag that had my item in it. She decided to stand there and watch me, failing to realize my RED card was already in the machine processing the payment. If i would’ve caught the girl’s name, I would share that too, but it’s fine, because i spoke with Jessica, a Trainer, prior to exiting the Target in Independence, MO. She reassured me something would be said to the cashier, but didn’t care to ask me which cashier it was, so I’m not sure if she’s even able to tell the person that acted so ignorantly and blantantly profiling that she was in the wrong and have possibly lost a customer, if not more. Signed, I don’t need to steal, I’m an educated Black woman who works a well-paying job, contrary to some people’s ignorant beliefs.

Target is not my favorite place in the world, but they have friendly staff, good brands, decent prices, and a fair selection. They are much better than Wal-Mart, but that's really not saying much, anyone can do better than Wal-Mart. Seriously.

An employee named Erin went above and beyond your normal customer service experience at any store. She was friendly. Smile on her face. As I am new to the area I did not know how to get to my next destination. She took the time to step outside and point me in the right direction. She is the face I will associate with Target from now on and this will be my new Target store from now on. Kudos Erin. You made a difference in someone's life today because you listened and you cared.
