This is a great school, one of the best in the U.S. We teach marine transportation, ocean engineering, marine engineering technology, ocean sciences. many of our graduates are making $100,000 first year in very interesting jobs.

A place where everyone hopes to go for a year and pursue the rest of their college career in College Station or be a Mariner. But truth is after 1 year here you cant help but love this place and end up calling it home.

✏I spent two incredibly wonderful, fun, scholastic-humbling, difficult, exasperating, soul-searching, friendship-bonding, intellectual expansion and morality building years at TAMUG. There is nothing I would change about the experience. Should you choose this university due Only to the big name draw of Tx A&M and the fact the campus is on its own small island, Pelican Island, just off Galveston you may find yourself in for a shock. This is a scientific university. I remember my freshmen semester elective was computer-science (FORTRAN). ...So yea, I should mention this was 24 years ago in 1989-1990. ✏In 1989 TAMUG was ranked third in the nation for Marine Science studies. All instructor's had earned PhD's in the topic of which they taught. This includes my eye-opening 'rated R-version' History Professor! ( real history vs the G-PG version taught by the High School coach. ) I arrived to discover no social structure what-so-ever~ and for a geek like me ~ it was everything I had hoped University would be for me and ...so much more. ❤I enjoyed discovering Galveston Island which plays host to a yearly Mardi Gras festival, Galveston Island Jazz & Blues Festival and a Victorian-themed Christmas festival called Dickens on the Strand (honoring the works of novelist Charles Dickens, especially A Christmas Carol) in early December. Galveston is home to several historic ships: the tall ship Elissa (the official Tall Ship of Texas) at the Texas Seaport Museum and USS Cavalla and USS Stewart, both berthed at Seawolf Park on nearby Pelican Island. So if Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics are your best subjects this may be the Home-Away-from-Home-Higher-Learning-Institution of which you have been dreaming‼

Only complaint was that often the lounge chairs ended up at the bottom of the pool 😮.
