I think the Albuquerque Museum is just the right size to spend a few hours, or stay longer; it's not overwhelming. The exhibits center on New Mexico, covering predominantly New Mexican contemporary & its founding artists. It also features the state's history through art, and has had enough variety for anyone: for instance the role the railway and Route 66 played in shaping the city. I enjoyed the space & flow from one medium sized room to another, plus its 2 large galleries. It also has a great little restaurant tucked into a corner of the lobby.

It is beautiful and the art is amazing. I was there for a Senior Christmas Party so my actual time of visiting the museum was limited but I the one gallery of New Mexico art was wonderful. I was enjoying the art so much I caused the van to take us back to the center to be late. I will go back again soon and spend all day.

I was there on the first Wednesday of the month in which entrance is free! It was good because not all the exhibits were open. What was viewable was new Mexican art of different styles. It has a very early Georgia O'Keeffe and a surprising Warhol! Everything else was honestly a little underwhelming.

I love this place. It's free Sunday mornings and hardly anybody around. Small but always interesting stuff. Worth visiting multiple times. Consider making a donation if you are going when admission is free.
