My family visited here from New Mexico just so my husband could do the steak challenge. We were picked up from our hotel by their limo service which the kids loved! While my husband was on the stage we were sat next to some nice folks who helped cheer him on....he did not finish but the atmosphere and experience was satisfying enough. The food we ordered was enjoyable and so was my drink! Don't forget to pick up some fudge on the way out.

The Big Texan is what it looks like from the outside: a tourist attraction. With this in mind, you won’t be disappointed by high prices or portions that offer more in quantity than quality. Our group stopped in for a mid-afternoon snack. This consisted of the smothered fries and flights of the Big Texan Brewery offerings. The kids opted for full meals (served in fun, if cheesy, straw cowboy hats to keep). While not much different than what might be had at any steak joint, the food was tasty and fresh. The promise of craft beer was a welcome attraction and testament to its growing popularity. While there was a nice variety, all suffered from the same thin body. Our resident brewer diagnosed the issue as not varying the temperature of the mash appropriately for the variety. The Mexican lager, Tres Hombres, was the one exception. The beer might have been a little disappointing, but the rustic wood and game trophy decor, serviceable meal served by a very amiable waitress made this an overall positive experience. The thin beer might be a blessing if you plan to tackle the 72-oz steak and dinner 1-hour challenge (we didn’t). Pro tip: if you order a baked potato, ask for the bacon sour cream.

Very good food. More expensive then your chain Steak House but not unreasonable. Cool gift shop. Can you find the real rattle snake? All of the employees were friendly, efficient, clean & Happy. They do have a shuttle that will pick you up. If you decide to try the 72 Oz challenge. You only have an hour & there is little, to no fat. It is a Sirloin. So be prepared to eat, all, 72 oz; If you don't want to pay. It is a Steak House. I wouldn't come here to order anything else. They do not over season like most other places. So you may want to add salt, if that is what you are used to.

This was a fun restaurant with great steaks (they were really good) a little high on the price but tasty none the less. The desserts were awesome too! Loved the free Texas Limo service to and from the Amarillo Ranch RV park. They have a fudge shop, a bar, some fun memorabilia and miscellaneous decor and a nice gift shop, too. It was a nice introduction to Amarillo, TX.

The Big Texan isn't "just another steak" ranch, its another whole world! The steaks are juicy, tender, and cooked to absolute perfection. The decor is colorful, the waitresses are fun and attentive, and the value for your dollar is spot on. This is a family-friendly restaurant with a very home town feel. We'll definitely be back!
