This is one of the great theaters in the world. A comfortable experience, every show is not merely seeing a movie, but they make it an event. Most films are double features and there is always something special about the show. Go on their site and see something that looks interesting to you. Lets of great stuff and it changes every weekend. Incredible theater!

A holiday tradition now for my CA family. What can be more fun and camp but to dress up as characters, get a goodie bag of props, and have fun along with kids of all ages? Young and people with some mileage. This year we participated in the Sing Along Sound of Music. Last year it was Beauty and the Beast. There are lots of different movies at the Castro Theater in the midst of a colorful area of SF. And they publish a monthly schedule. This Art Deco Palace Theater is fully restored, along with the theater organ which is played before the movie. Look hard and you will see a lotus, Buddhas, and other exotic things to transport you to another time and place. Truly a taste of the magic of Hollywood.

Beautiful historic theater showing everything from Vertigo to Alien to The Little Mermaid Sing-Along to film festival fare, complete with organ music before the show. The theater is obviously older, but is always clean and well-maintained and has a lot of vibrant decor to show for its age.

Classic big ornate movie palace. There are not that many left in the world. There is only 1 screen! Sometimes they have a live organist play before the show in the evenings. Bring your kiddies to the sing-a-long Frozen or Sound of Music, etc. Highly recommended.

This one of the last old movie theaters in San Francisco is all ways worth the trip. I have been going hear for years 40+ , it great to see it has survived the development that is running our city. It's all ways fun to explore the Castro bars after a cool old flick. Adult naborhood, but kid friendly theatre.
