What a great experience it was for my wife and I. Our son and his wife, and their 1 year old child. We were there on Christmas day. The first thing they asked us each to put a bag together of items. These bags were going to be distributed later that day to the homeless. What better way to start a tour of The Jewish Museum of Maryland than to do a mitzvah! After that we took our time walking around, and learning the history and looking at the exhibits. Great time!

Surprisingly interesting to this first time Gentile visitor. Particularly of interest to those who find urban history, such as early settlements by immigrants, fascinating. The museum is very professional yet not at all crowded when i was there. Definitely plan to take the free tour offered at three times each day, but the tour covers the synagogues, not the exhibits, so feel free to see the exhibits before the tour. Also plan to have lunch at Attman's deli before or after your visit; it's across the street and forms part of the history. I would allow a couple hours tops for the exhibits and an hour for the tour.

The cool thing about this museum is that it's not just a history of Judaism in Maryland, it's really a history of immigrants of all realms into Baltimore. I really liked their main exhibit, which is visually interesting with voices and quotes from people who grew up in the mass migration era into the city. The synagogue was also pretty cool, with the basement and the excavated Mikvah.

Very enlightening. Visiting the synagogues was awe inspiring and I am hoping to visit again, soon.
