An excellent source of used and rare books since 1977. The Lantern's inventory is an eclectic assortment of donated books, LPs, DVDs, artwork and other items. On our shelves, you're just as likely to find something classic as you are to find something obscure. All staff are volunteers and all profits go to support Bryn Mawr College.

The Lantern is a cozy and eclectic bookshop, and well worth a visit, but for those of us who don't live in Georgetown, its hours make this difficult. During the week it closes at 4 PM on the days it is open. I realize that it is run by volunteers, but longer hours--ideally into the early evening--would be a great encouragement to customers. For instance, I have an event at Georgetown University Library on Thursday at 6 and thought I might visit the bookshop beforehand. But this isn't really workable, given the early closing at 4. Sigh. --md

What an awesome find! Great selection of carefully curated books. Fantastic spot to browse while on a walk.

Low priced bookshop with an interesting selection of books. Most reads are under $10.
