Our Story

The Vintage began as a childhood dream, and it has evolved just as we have. Along the way there have been laughter and tears, learning opportunities and missed chances but what a wonderful adventure it has been.

When we opened The Vintage we had a vision. We wanted a place that would be part of Eugene for years to come. A cozy place for your last first date, a friendly place that's perfect for brunch with the girls...or the in-laws. We wanted a restaurant where we could serve great, inventive dishes made with high-quality, local ingredients, a place we'd be proud to be a part of.

To everyone who has been a part of our journey thus far and to those who will be part of our future.

Thank You!
Megan & Shannon

The only reason this is two stars and not one is because the wait staff were super friendly. The food, however, was mediocre at best. For the price, it was really unacceptable. The stuffed mushroom starter we got was covered in a sauce the tasted like straight vinegar. Even if you ignore the vinegar sauce, it was just like 5 tiny mushrooms. Not worth the $16 or whatever the price was. My salmon was cooked okay but was not seasoned well at all and was completely bland. The vegetables served with them, had some weird taste as well. And don't get me started about the broccoli cheese soup that had the consistency of baby food. Maybe I'm too hard on them but when you are getting close to $100 for two for dinner, I expect more.

"The Vintage", Eugene,Oregon. Friday, 14 April, at or about 6:30 pm, the establishment decided my 87 yr-old mother and 93 yr-old dad were too old to serve. They, and I, were asked to leave. We did. If you are under 40, you WILL be served. And serviced. Mom has had lunch there a couple of times and thought it would be a good place for dinner. We went and found a bit of a line. Mom asked the gal keeping a list about the waiting time and was told we could sit in the bar area and there would be no waiting time. We went into the area and found an empty table at the far end of the room opposite the door. A pretty blonde in her twenties came over and let us know that the table was not a part of the bar area and that it would not be served. We left. The vast majority of those I saw appeared to be in their 20s or early 30s; by comparison, my folks are white-haired and use canes.

Service is incredibly slow. I've been here a couple times and we are always left waiting. The only reason this place is popular is because of the great drinks and fondue. The staff are nice but you won't see your waiter much. Not sure if they need more wait staff or just more experience. The food options are minimal, expensive and nothing special. Same food I make at home. Don't plan to go back here.

"Surprise Me!", that's what I ordered. Vanessa did a great job! She brought me linguini with clams in a cream sauce with cheese and a mixed greens garden salad. I had coffee, too. Delicious! I enjoyed the friendly patrons and the dining experience. I shall return, with friends to enjoy the "fishbowl stew", be warned, it's not like cappuccino! HA, HA HA HA HA :-) (Garry says)
