I live this vet. I have 2 dogs and every time they have been sick, or need some medicine, I can always get an appointment. It's clean and very affordable. My last visit I am very happy with. My dog was very sick and they cured her. So so happy. Highly recommended.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Thrive. My dog had to have a few teeth extracted and a dental cleaning, and it was so affordable with outstanding quality of care. My dog experienced no complications whatsoever. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I will never take my dog anywhere else. This place is what Austin is all about.

We always go to Thrive for our pet needs (consecutively for 2 years). Today, after 4 months, I brought my dog in for an intestinal parasite exam and ear cleaning. My dog is a rescue so he will growl when he sees someone new but will not bite. He will only show aggression when provoked. As soon as she opened the door, he began to growl a bit. She asked, "Does he bite?" I said, "No." She then asked, "Has he bitten anyone?" I said "No" because he hasn't. Ever. Anyways, I told her what we were at the vet for and she told me she would give me a sample cup so I can take my dog out to go poop and bring the poop sample back to them. Every time we've been to Thrive, the technicians actually take the poop sample themselves. This was the first time I was asked to do it. I asked about ear cleaning and she told me it was $35 but if he growls or shows aggression then the price will increase. I was appalled. I know they have muzzles and they've used a muzzle on my dog previously for other things such as vaccinations and blood work. Absolutely ridiculous. If you are going to work at a vet clinic then you need to understand that not all dogs are bred and brought up in perfect households. A lot of dogs come from rescues and have had an abusive past. There is a very particular way of taking care of an animal. Vet clinics need to train their staff properly and hire people who are willing to understand the pet and provide them with love and care throughout the appointment. This was ridiculous. She didn't even try to let my dog smell her. She stood as far away as possible. Pathetic. Never coming back here.

My older cat need teeth extracted. Veterinarian was caring and answered all my questions. Also, appreciate I could get back in quickly when my cat needed a bit of follow-up care. I am very happy with all staff and they have nice waiting area.

I recently adopted my dog from the animal shelter, where they told us that he hates the vet. I called around and heard about Thrive from my friend. I called them and explained to them that my dog hates going to the vets and asked if they could handle that. They said yes of course and that I should bring a muzzle (totally fine with me), so I made an appointment. We arrived and after waiting for a few minutes we were sent into a room. The nurse came in after 20 minutes of waiting and didn't even say hello to my dog or let him sniff her. After more waiting, the doctor came in and didn't really acknowledge my dog either until it was time for her to give him his exam. Of course, my dog started spazzing out (mind you he wasn't growling, barking, or trying to bite). The doctor then informed me that she would never be able to see my dog again unless he was better trained or sedated and recommended that I bring him back to the shelter otherwise. She informed me that a technician would come in and give him a different muzzle. The nurse cracked the door open before throwing two muzzles onto the floor and telling me to put one of them on my dog. I put one on him and she came back and asked me to put the one I had brought on top of that one. Then she came in again with a rope, put it around his neck and told me to hold his head while the doctor went behind him and checked him out. He still spazzed (again a little) and the doctor freaked out and said that there was no way I could ever come back with him. The nurse then informed me that I could check out but the dog had to stay in the room while I did so. While checking out, I mentioned to the receptionist that I had called to make sure they could handle dogs who hate the vet, and he just shrugged his shoulders and didn't say anything. I was also charged $15 for an exam that really didn't happen. Honestly, the worst experience I ever had. (Giving this review one star because it won't let me post otherwise but it really should be zero.)
