Here's what you never want: to get your car repaired in a town you've never been in before. That's what I was faced with after a five-hour trip to Rochester. I looked online for a good garage and saw the reviews for Tilson's. The good reviews were backed up by my great experience. Great communication, friendly staff, a fair price and even a clean bathroom during your wait. Whether you're a Rochester resident or you're just passing through, if you need work on your vehicle, you're in good hands if you go to Tilson's.

I hate to leave a poor review for a family owned business, but the dishonesty I encountered here merits a warning for others. I normally change my own oil but I was running short on time and took it to Tilson's based on the many positive reviews I saw. At my request, they inspected the car and informed me that I needed new struts and new sway bars in the front and back. They gave me a repair estimate of over two thousand dollars, which I declined. When I got home, I jacked up my car and inspected the struts myself. They were perfectly fine: no rust, no oil leaks, and they wanted to charge me to compress the new struts even though they would have been putting in loaded struts anyway. But the worst part was the sway bars--my car doesn't even have sway bars to begin with, and they wanted to charge me to replace them! I guess they assumed that because I am female, I don't know anything about cars and could easily take advantage of me. Very disappointing. I would not recommend.

Tilsons always provides excellent service and professionalism. My wife went in to have a brake light replaced. They ended up replacing multiple brake lights and didn't even charge her for the extra work. These guys go above and beyond because they know how to create loyal customers. I've never had an easier time trusting an auto repair place as I do with Tilson's.

We were traveling through Rochester on our way to Nashville for Thanksgiving.  We had a low tire warning and could smell burning and the right rear tire was hot.  It was a Sunday evening.  We found Tilson's website and were able to request an appointment online for the next day.  We received an e-mail back that evening indicating to bring the car in and they would look at it in the morning.  We were so relieved.  My husband brought our vehicle in upon their opening and they were able to identify the problem and fix it immediately.  The shop is clean, staff professional and knowledgeable and we were on the road by 10 am.  We are grateful for the service that they provided us.  Would highly recommend this shop.

Went to the dealership for my last oil change and they basically said I needed new rear brakes that very second. I passed it up for a second opinion so when my next oil change was due, I went to Tilson's. I basically gave them a pass to check my brakes and tell me they needed replacing. Except the report came back fine. They didn't up-sell me even though I was basically asking for it! These are upstanding folks doing good business.
