Have never purchased from this establishment, but have given it five stars for its historical relevance. This used to be the old Criterion Restaurant, which was where the main franchisee of McDonald's (Ray Kroc) met his third wife. She was an organist, and was quite talented as well. Just a little bit of history for those who enjoy it.

I have only been here for croissants but I have never been disappointed. They have always been exceptional. Pro Tip: Come as early as possible and bring cash.

Vietnamese owned.  CASH only.  Figured they won't be paying very much taxes.  Also, only open sparingly not all the time.  Cocky customer services.  Take you own chances.  Decent croissants I believe they bottle sprayed sugar then baked to get the crispy coating.  Bottle sprayed!!!  Yes, what about all the plastic that got sprayed on too?  Hmmm... health hazard?  wink wink  decent at best

Went there to try their Banh Mi. Very good. Spend the extra couple bucks for the deluxe version with extra toppings. Their croissants are a revelation. Huge, buttery and flaky with a wide variety of flavors. Get there early because once they're gone, they're gone. Bring your cash, too, because while Trung Nam is inexpensive, they don't take cards or checks. Cash only. Had to run down the street to get cash from nearby Western Bank.

My chocolate croissant was perfect. Chocolate distributed evenly on the inside, and flakes weren't constantly falling off of the pastry. Be aware that Trung Nam only accepts cash, though, so make sure to plan ahead.
