About

NYC's pizza pioneers since 1987

Story

The Upper East Side always seemed like a foreign country until our daughters attended school up there and we discovered the joys of Yorkville, long-time home of NYC’s German & Hungarian communities. To celebrate their great culinary traditions, Two Boots UES presents its indigenous pie: The Royal Tenenbaum, with blue cheese, red onion, roasted tomato pesto, and double-smoked bacon from the fabulous Schaller & Webber. And the cozy mezzanine is a great spot for poetry clubs, small parties or a late-night rendezvous. P.S. There’s an occasional Seinfeld sighting here, and guess what? He doesn’t order The Newman!

Their decor is pretty awful but I guess it gives the place character. I've been here a few times and had regular cheese pizza, as well as the one with spinach, artichoke, and scallions (don't remember the name), which is AMAZING. The cheese one never fails to disappoint, though. Prices are average for a pizzeria. Crust is pretty thin on all pies and crunchy! Their cookies are only a dollar and are pretty good, as are their garlic knots! A nice neighborhood place. They have lots of variety and pretty unique combinations of toppings, as well as a ton of sandwiches and salads, but I haven't tried any of them before! Apparently they have a vegan and gluten free option too which I'm sure is helpful for a lot of customers!

Awesome pizza! some unique and bold flavors, crust is super. I had pizza called "animal collective" and "Mr pink". Both were pretty tasty! However, decor and ambience pretty average- not a great place to hang out.

Had a bad reaction to the pizza. Contacted customer service detailing complaint, Roberta was unresponsive and not helpful. Took 2 full weeks to offer me a 25% coupon. Would not refund because "no other complaints". Too many better pizza options in the area with better service.

I was expecting a little more with this place since my friend has told me so much about this place. Finally going there was a bit of a disappointment since the pizza wasn't memorable. I had hopped for a decent vegan slice. Even Whole Foods has better vegan pizza slices than that. The pizza crust was a bit thick if I can remember. The dayia cheese didn't seem to have mixed well with the sauce. I could give it another try considering I am in the area. I suggest trying it once since there are so many options.
