So strange to read all these really negative reviews (some of which are just rants against USPS and not related to this branch). It's a post office. Sort of like the DMV where nobody likes to go and everyone likes to hate. I stopped at this location to drop off some pre-paid packages. There were two people working windows so the wait was around 5 minutes. I handed over my packages, said "should be ready to go," the guy scanned them, gave me a receipt, and I was on my way. Remember, USPS is no longer a federal executive branch agency but is an independent agency, and Congress has tried repeatedly to starve them. But while it's not a joyous, customer-centered place to go, the USPS provides an essential service. And they have modernized significantly in the last ten years while keeping prices fair.

I work at a school just down the street from the Vassar St. post office. We are in the industrial area of Vassar St. We have gone through long periods where we do not have a regular mail carrier. Sometimes a mail carrier doesn't even stop by, like yesterday. This has happened many times. I think our route is undesirable, since we do not seem as important to the post office. Now it is Friday before Christmas and I really hope the mail comes today as I did order some gifts to have delivered here, so they wouldn't get stolen off my porch at home.

Wish I could give negative stars. Called about missing package and Jim answered the phone. He actually asked me if "I had looked around my neighborhood" and "if I knew the location of my carrier right now". Then he proceeded to tell me he was very busy and did not have time to contact the carrier. They wonder why most people pay their bills online now and ship important items UPS / FedEx. The USPS can't be trusted to do even the easiest of tasks.

As always the US Government is stugy. However the post office is trying to become more modern. Usually a little late and a little short, but they do try. Might be time to truly privatize them. Not the halfway job that Congress did! Perhaps hire UPS to run them.

The staff was very rude and not helpful in the slightest. The building was also very dirty and run down.
