This place is my jam. Every clinic is gonna be different, but I went for both an urgent care need and for my PCP. Everyone there is always nice as hell to me, and I never wait long. I also work down the street at a pharmacy and have to work with them professionally A LOT, and they are badasses here as well. Love every staffer I've met so far! Shout out to my PCP Laura and the guy at the front desk I always end up calling whether I'm at work or for myself, he always helps me with friendliness and speed with literally everything.

My experience with UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine Urgent Care Merle Hay has been the most disappointing of any experience I've had with any provider. My first attempted visit, I was hurt at work (minor). Needed to have what ended up being a small scrape (albeit a bleeder) checked to make sure it wasn't in need of stitches. I called to try to get in with these folks and was told to head straight to the emergency room, that they would refuse me treatment if I showed up there. There was no major trauma, no gaping wound, just a scrape that I wanted checked out in case it needed more than just a cleanout and bandage. The doctor I ended up seeing at the hospital said herself that the clinic just wasted valuable resources by sending me there. Round 2/my scheduled appointment is an annual physical with Nick Vellema. I've been weary of having a PA (Physician Assistant) as a primary care provider, and now I know why. Communication is not a strong-point of this clinic in general, and it certainly extends to the providers as well. I don't know if its because they're overworked or if they just lack attention to detail, but phone calls do not get returned, prescriptions get written in a way that cannot be filled. Medical concerns are brushed off as common issues with no real remedy/treatment. This practice seems to be more focused on a retail mindset and bringing people in for repeat visits with test after test being conducted than with actual consideration for the patient and their wellbeing/comfort. When a patient has been treated for an recurrent issue and the treatment works, you don't brush that treatment under the rug and try to force them to come back into the office (for another expensive co-pay) when their issue flares up instead of prescribing the same medication they have taken without problems in the past from another provider. The feeling I get from it all is that they want you to come into the office and pay another copay so they can just write another prescription and send you on your way. Needless to say, after these experiences, I will likely not return to this (or any other UnityPoint Clinic) for treatment.

I took my 17 year old son in today because he has a very infected ingrown toenail, Scott the receptionist was awesome, he got me signed fast, we were there early, and asked if I knew that!! I knew if we left he wouldn't go back. So we waited for and hour!! Now the PA was just as awesome I let them know ahead of time he has autism, and his blood pressure jumps sky high!! Laura Cunningham has my son so relaxed he was joking with her. She high fives him and talked to him normal, she talked to him as an adult and he liked that!! We has a family switched from Mercy, and I'm glad we did. My son and I will be going to this location and my husband is going to lakeside location. Thank-you Scott and Laura for a job well done

I was told my lab results would be 2-3 days, well today was the 3rd day so I called at noon like they told me to. The lady I talked to at the Merle Hay clinic was very rude and short with me. Was not talking to me in full sentences and did not answer any of my questions.
