I feel compelled to write even though I have not yet received mental health treatment from the u of m. I normally fairly fair (if I do say so myself) and am writing this review under what I feel to be unusually poor circumstances. I have in face received some mental health services from the u of m roughly 6 years ago. I am not referencing these services in this review. When I called the number listed twice online including within the U of M depression website, I was informed the number was incorrect. I was able to locate a number and asked to do an intake. The woman I spoke to seemed to be displeased to have to speak with me (which I let go understanding I could be misinterpreting her voice over the phone). She proceeded to ask me numerous questions as is expected and when I attempted to communicate that my diagnosis was unclear giving her several diagnosis I have she informed me that these conditions were not treated at the u of m and seemed to discourage me from continuing with the intake though I had listed some conditions that are treated. I recognize that a complex mental health situation may well be taxing and it's probably fair to assume she is not a mental health care provider. With a job like the one she has I would hope that intake people attempt to listen and offer constructive advice or at least are patient. She proceeded to make loud vocal sighing/humph info sounds when I listed several diagnosis I've had. These were not sounds that could be mistaken and I did at this point ask if she thought I should treatment elsewhere because I sensed this was the message I was getting ( or something to this effect). At this point she did appear to be a bit startled and momentarily seemed more attuned. At another point in the conversation when asked who my current therapist is and I hesitated on the answer (probably in part due to feeling a bit like I was putting her out) she proceeded to ask "so...your saying you have a therapist...but you don't remember her name?". The entire conversation felt rushed, she was noticeably irritated, and she offered zero compassion, support, or even interest. At the end of this intake I was given an appointment more then 3 months away. I recognize that the u of m has prestigious facilities but they aren't much good when they are this difficult to access. After this conversation I am left wondering if she was giving me proper direction towards therapy. I completely understand that everyone has bad days. I am not a vindictive person and try to give second chances. I feel that in a situation as sensitive as mental health however that it is imperative all individuals involved with the facilities be as gracious as possible. My past mental health support at the u of m going back years ago was alright. I will hope for the best when my appointment comes up.

Doctors are good but they cut off my xanax and aderall. Then the wonder why I have no will to expand my mind with knowledge.

Cancelled same aappointment twice. No priority for rescheduling. Childs medicine s rrunning out.
