Everybody says "stay away from the dealer" when it comes to servicing your vehicle. If you own a Ford, I would throw that advice in the trash. Paying a few extra dollars is the peace of mind you earn when you're dealing with Van Bortel Service. My Escape is 7 years old, 87K and is at the point where things begin to go wrong. Every single time I have gone to Van Bortel for my semi-annual oil change, the staff is courteous, there are no pushy sales personnel and everything is explained clearly and easily. You get what you pay for folks.

They don't negotiate much with price however this place is a fantastic place to buy a car. They are not pushy which makes up for not negotiating much. The sales staff is very helpful in finding the right car within your budget. I will most likely be back to buy my next vehicle!

Let me start by saying my experience was a breath of fresh air in dealing with Van Bortel Ford dealership. Over the years I have purposely avoided dealing with car dealerships because I know how they generally work. Lie, overcharge, pressure, sleazy sales tactics, etc. However, I must admit that I was quite surprise with the way Van Bortel people handle themselves. I had driven my minivan full of my belongings from California to Rochester to stay as long as needed and take care of my ailing father. Shortly after my father’s passing my minivan shut downed in the middle of the freeway and I knew this was something that had to be taken to the dealer for service. I had seen Van Bortel’s sign near where I was living at the time and expecting the worst I thought they’ll be as good as any other dealer. In short, their initial estimate was more than I was prepared to pay and was sure that they’re taking advantage of me. But I agreed, as I wanted to leave and get back to my family in California ASAP and could not do it without my car. So after two days I got the call that all is done and I picked up my van. However, the problem persisted, not once but three times, as the dreaded Check Engine light kept coming back and I was stranded again in the middle of nowhere. So I took it back for the forth time and spoke with the service manager Tom who was extremely pleasant and clearly a man of integrity. I should also mention that up till then I had been dealing with very polite and supportive service agents who eagerly took the vehicle in for further analysis and supplied me with a loner car. By then I was getting eager to sort out the issue, as my time to leave Rochester was also closing in. At that time it became clear to both Tom and his shop foreman, who’s name I can not remember, that there was something else wrong and they made it a mission to find the issue and resolve the problem once and for all. To their credit, they did find and resolved the problem all with a pleasant attitude and personal care. Happily my dog Charlie and I were able to get on the road on time and make the 3500 mile journey safely back to California. Mind you, I only dealt with their service department during this whole ordeal. Not only I never felt that I was being taken advantage of, but I saw how Van Bortel Ford crew was willing to face and resolve any challenge with a smile on their face and to also make sure the customer would leave feeling whole and satisfied. If their sales department is anything like their service, which I suspect to be the case, I would confidently assert that Van Bortel Ford is the best dealership I have ever dealt with!

Got a good deal on a Ford Fusion Sport. They are willing to be competitive on price if you can show a better offer from a local competitor.
