I came here recommended from my brother to bring my dog here! I never planned to write this review but I feel like I should warn someone else if they are ever put in a situation like how I was. I went in with my dog who was not moving his hind legs. Completely gave out on him. I was told by the doctor that he had a spine injury which was common in terrier breeds. I also was told that I needed to put my dog down who was only 1 year and a half at the time if I didn't get a $11,000+ surgery with in the next 48 hours. They said he had no chances of recovering from his spine injury. But they never did an X-RAY to examine any damage. Everything I was told was by just seeing him from exterior. HOWEVER, after ignoring the doctors "advice" about two weeks later he was back on his feet and two months later he was back to his happy and running self like if he never had an injury! I feel like I was almost pressured into putting him down and I'm happy I never took him back to get put down because I would have lost a perfectly healthy dog who I was told would have no chances of walking!

We had been taking our dog here for the last year and a half and she always received great care. The hours of operation and also being open on the weekends were super convenient. Unfortunately, we had to put her down recently but they made it as comfortable and peaceful for us (and her) as possible, and I will forever be grateful for that.

I went to this vet once and will not be going back. Although the staff is nice, the office is disorganized and slow. I got to my appt early and waited at least 30 mins past the appt time. Got an X-ray. After the appt waited 30 mins for the vet tech or whoever to input the charges so I could check out. I didn’t think the vet was thorough enough (for example, did not check my cat’s teeth). It took 4-5 phone calls over the course of 3 days to get my cat’s records and prescription worked out. The vet was behind and hadn’t reviewed the records so the rx could be ordered. Come to find out their internal pharmacy can’t do that rx. Maybe not any single persons fault but communication breakdown. I finally talked to the manager and got mad, then they fixed it. Oh and did I mention? A dog was being put to sleep with the exam door open. Went home and cried.

I've been a client at VCA Bay Area for 2 years now and have only had great experiences. The staff is friendly and patient. The doctors are extremely knowledgeable and compassionate - they always help to put me at ease in an emergency. There may be a wait, but it's only because the doctors always do a thorough job - exactly what I want in my vet!

VCA has great service and a caring staff. I experienced regular care, emergency services, boarding and unfortunately putting one of my babies to sleep. They're open everyday and usually are on time.
