Wind Cave National Park is a must see, especially if Mount Rushmore NP was planned. I highly recommend the ranger-led cave tour, a light jacket may be required due to the lower temperature in the cave. There are steps, but it is pretty safe and an easy going pace. Only until the second day as we were passing through the park we saw some bison and deer. Wind Cave NP is certainly one of those lesser known parks that needs to be experienced.

Interesting place. The tour takes place far below the plains above. Neat mineral formations are found throughout the cave. A tornado touched down nearby while we were in the caverns and the wouldn't let anyone up to the surface for about an hour. Got plenty crowded, but most folks could see the wisdom and made the best of it.

Lots of prairie dogs! So cute watching them bark and pop out of their burrows. The Visitors Center doesn't have much to distinguish it from others in the area. A small exhibit about the cave. Cave tours vary in length of time and distance, and in physical activity. Each costs $10+

Really beautiful national park with exceptional volunteers. Due to the federal highway running through the middle of the park, it's one of the few national parks that are free to enter. The only part that you have to pay for are the guided tours of the cave. There are miles of exceptional trails that you can get on for free and are very quiet/under utilized.

Great experience after a bit of a miss on the Custer wildlife loop. We took the natural entry tour. Ranger was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable, and friendly. Tour was about 1.25 hrs and very reasonably priced. Caves were awesome, a must not miss. Bring a jacket. I wish someone would have recommended bringing a small flashlight to help see down some of the caverns off of the path.
