Woodman's is definitely a good but touristy restaurant.  Even when I showed up around 3 pm for a late lunch there was still a steady stream of people coming in.  The good news is that there's a quick turnaround and lots of tables.

Service is non-existent, but in an understandable way.  You order at various counters; food at one, drinks at another; there's a raw bar separately upstairs.  Once your order is called you pick it up yourself.  

The ambiance is fun.  Low ceilings and wooden benches, staff using microphones to announce when order numbers are ready.  They even have outdoor seating, including some wooden benches overlooking the marsh just past their parking lot.  

The food is also solidly good.  The fried clams are amazing.  The lobster roll was generous with their portioning of lobster meat, although I will admit I've had tastier lobster rolls at sit-down restaurants in Boston area- still, a very good lobster roll.

All in all, worth the visit!

Absolutely the best.  Food is outstanding, hot and fresh.  Service is fast, accurate, and so very friendly.  And!!!!! Many, many gluten free options!

This was recommended by a friend. Was there for a late lunch so there was no line at the counter. Counters, I should say. I find it odd that you order and pay for food and for beverages at separate counters. Ordered the clam basket and a small clam chowder.

My order was ready promptly, with condiments available at a counter adjacent to the pick-up window.

I have no idea what the fuss is about. The clams were enormous, but the batter was not at all crisp and tasted somewhat flour-y. The onion rings were done in a batter I would expect to get on fried fish, but they were cooked very well. The chowder had plenty of clam in it, but the milk and butter were separated and it was not very creamy.

All in all, for me a mediocre meal. And at the prices they charge, i would expect either proper dishware (not paper and plastic) or at the very least, table service.

As busy and popular as it is, I must be missing something. However, I would not recommend it to family.

Great place for a family meal. Well made bar and grill entrees. I knocked off one star for a craft beer list that is overly focused on IPA's,  it's easy to get bored with what they have on tap.

The lobster was so so skinny because, it just molted.  The steamers were so sandy and dirty.   The fried clams were also very sandy and nearly inedible.  Probably should had just returned the whole order.  $72. wasted.
