Spur of the moment decision to visit the plantation on our road trip. The forest rangers were very nice and knowledgeable. The price was cheap - $3.50 per adult. The tour was mostly inside the big house and took about an hour. President George Washington visited this home and mentioned to the owner to leave the oak that is still standing in the front of the home. It was so neat to see this beautiful house - mostly built by slave labor. Amazing that they could do that high level and volume of work. The ballroom is amazing! Although the house is empty of original furnishings, we can still get an idea of how it was to live there and how it was built.

Great park, aside from the trails you can tour the house, it's not too expensive and worth it!

Preserved, historic plantation along original Kings Highway. Heugenout church nearby is the cherry on top of this delectable SC secret sundae!

The grounds are very nice. The swarming mosquitoes were unbearable, even with bug spray. So much nature (snakes) on the nature trail, they had it closed. Staff members were nice and knowledgeable. Visit in cool weather if you can.
