Building is old with Soviet style design -- poor lighting and weird layout with an open-concept running track over the gym right in the center of the building. Feels odd and sounds noisy. I avoid that area. Also so much traffic flowing in and out of there. Pool is shoddy, cracked, has a weird design with the kids area, and sometimes gets foggy with chemicals or salts or something. Lane dividers never get moved for any reason. Only two lanes are separated out for adult lap swim and that never changes. Apparently moving lane dividers is hard work. Evening adult lap swim is constantly being intruded by swim lessons and trainings, but they generally don't want people doing laps during open swim. They move around the evening adult lap swim time to fit their staffing instead of customer demand. I've been a member of several YMCAs and a YWCA and adult lap swim schedules stay the same everyday year round. How are they not managing to do that here? Adult lap swim lifeguarding is probably the easiest job on the planet--even the aquatics director could do it I've never seen her swim a lap or sit in the lifeguard chair. Locker room showers are funky with not enough hooks for hanging things and the oversized curtains aren't hung right. Some of the old rusty lockers have junk in them that have been in there for who knows how long. The door to the swim area is super rusty and hard to open or close. It has to be slammed shut which sounds rude. It should be replaced. I don't even bother going into the workout area. I checked it out once and was not impressed. Looked cramped, dark, and I didn't see any rowing machines. I cringe every time I see my fee for this place come out of my bank account, but it's the only indoor pool in Worthington. I love to swim, so I'm a captive member, unfortunately.
I love to come here and I love to run and watch wrestling tournaments and basketball. Sometimes I get a cherry lime energy drink from the vending machine. I'm not trying to have a heart attack but it's very good
I love that they have an indoor track—the rest of the YMCA is not for me however. But there is a variety of areas that serve a lot of needs—a pool, two basketball courts, treadmills and other various equipment make the Y a place for many. I liked that you could get a membership or pay as you went to use the facility.
Great place to go if you enjoy being judged on sight. The woman at the counter was rude and hostile. No respect for boundries or medical status. Exactly what you'd expect preppy prissy and uppity people who are clearly better and more superior than the 300 lb man who just wants to lose weight. On the bright side I'm glad I was made to feel that way by the face of their operation rather than after I would have paid for a membership. Thankfully there are plenty of decent gyms.
Can not wait to become members here. I was there today to return my application for our membership. The employee at the desk, was exceptionally wonderful to us. She was very informational and had great customer service.
My cousin Zarek was there swimming and got a headache so he had to go somewhere quiet to lay down. Then the EMPLOYEES went over there and were making fun of him because he had a headache. Now I would understand if it were some other children that were there but for the employees to make fun of a 10 year old boy for having a headache doesn’t make any sense to me.
All around great smaller YMCA. Friendly staff. Nice workout equipment. The only real complaint I have are the hours. 24 hour access to the track and workout equipment would be awesome.
It’s a fun place for kids there are lifeguard on duty and you can get a membership for the gym that they have the staffs are nice and the place is well kept.
Nice, clean, and spacious facility with a basketball/ volleyball court, weight lifting, a track, a pool, and some smaller private rooms.
Only complaint is that when we checked in for a day pass we were not told about the wrist band deal for the deep end or rock wall, would have been nice to know that , I know they dont know who my kids are from adam , however they are competitive seasonal swimmers from south dakota probably the best swimmers I saw in the pool the day we were there I know it sounds like I am being bias , however I should be my son is a state record holder in the butterfly.
