Xi'an Famous Foods
"Xi’an Famous Foods began as a 200 square foot basement stall in the Golden Shopping Mall in Flushing, N.Y. The original location, established in late 2005, was the first restaurant to bring the little-known cuisine of Xi’an to the United States. Since then, it’s become a beloved local fast-casual chain, with locations in New York’s Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens boroughs. As a family-owned business, Xi’an Famous Foods looks to reintroduce the world to the unique western Chinese cuisine of the founder’s hometown through some classic dishes: liang pi “cold-skin noodles," stewed pork burgers, wide hand-pulled “biang biang” noodles, and more, all in their most authentic forms based on family recipes."

Overall, I think Xian Famous food lives up to the hype. We had the signature spicy cumin lamb noodles, dumplings, tofu soup and the teas. Every thing was very yummy. The signature noodles was delicious and hand cut. Good flavor and unique to the local region. The cold was a good compliment to the spicy taste. Definitely recommend it as a fast dining experience.
Get the sweet pork burger, trust me. It was filled with pork and dipped in the broth. Very very good and filling. Their beef noodle soup was perfect for the cold day. Very filling and spicy. I highly recommend this place. Make sure you go all the way to the back of the restaurant as they do have seating for customers but it’s hidden in the back.
My first experience at Xi’an Famous Food’s noodles. I’ve seen their food on many YouTube channels over the years and I’ve always wanted to go. My expectations were high and I wanted to be wowed like the reactions on YouTube. I was not let down. The noodles were unlike any other that I’ve had. It was smooth and tender. Just one bite engulfs your mouth with so much favor. I ordered the least spicy as my spice level and I was quite happy with my choice. I’ll definitely be back to try the other selections.
Hey guys :!! I hope all is well with you today! Lets talk about Xi'an Famous Foods! The restaurant was connected to other stores. When you first go in you see the cute little decor on the left wall, the menu on the right wall, and the food prep crew / kitchen straight ahead. There was little seating space right beyond the cute decor. There was a built in bench and about 5 stools. If you keep going straight to the back there was more seating available. A couple of tables and chairs in booths in the inside / outside area. You will feel the outside weather in this seating area. I ordered and waited about 10 minutes for my food. I took it to go. When I got home I opened the container and HOLYYYY MOLYYYYY the amazing smells rolled out the container. The lamb meat was so tender and juicy. It was seasoned perfectly!!! The noodles was fresh as well but was not as full of flavor like the other places. The only thing differently about this dish I wish this restaurant offered was a soup option like the Very Fresh Noodles restaurant does with this same dish.
When you walk in, it’s very plain but clean. You soon realize that they focus on the food. It’s worth the price. I had the spiced lamb cumin noodle soup and the noodles were slurped up within the first 3 minutes. The broth is soo good and still holds well when taken as leftovers. Definitely worth a stop. PS: The unsweetened tea really is unsweetened.
The noodles were amazing. The staff were ok but the pictures didn't fully prepare me for the mess the noodles made. It was truly delicious and I would recommend to dine in and eat the noodles as spicy as you can take it. Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian option on the noodles and I'm sure they are delicious Wheelchair accessibility: The wheelchair accessibility is in the front of the restaurant and it's a little cramped but it's worth it
Delicious hand ripped noodles stir fried or in a soup. The spicy lamb is true to its name very spicy! but pairs well with the crunchy vegetables and sweet cabbage
Great Food overall, the atmosphere feels nice. Seating is quite low and reminds me of a ramen shop layout. Staff are nice, not super outgoing though. You still have a feeling of welcoming though as you sit down. The kiosk has you punch in your name, but they still end up calling you by your number which to me seems a bit against the purpose of putting your name on the order in the first place. Otherwise, nothing noteworthy besides that. As food goes, I ordered the Lamb dumplings, Tofu Custard, and braised pork bun. I rather like the decision to have your own identity and make things spicy regardless of if someone can eat it or not. They come with 3 levels of spice, spicier the better. For the lamb dumplings the sauce had a bit of a tartness to it which reminded me of ponzu. It was good but didn't have a very deep complexity to it, pretty average. The dumplings themselves were nice though they were a bit dense. Didn't really get much of a lamb flavor from it strangely enough. The tofu was by far the worst thing I had. It looked very appetizing from first glance, but it was a wolf in sheep's clothing. The only thing that was a saving grace for it was the fact that it had the soup around it. I know tofu is supposed to be flavored by what you serve it with, but the chunks were so large that most of it tasted of nothing unless you get a bit of the soup in there with it. I recommend finding your tofu fill somewhere else or with another dish because it was not worth the buy. Completely on the other hand, The pork bun. The pork bun was the star of the night. Being one of the cheapest things on the menu and one of the most delicious. It took me by surprise that the pork would be so soft and flavorful. It hit all the right notes for me guaranteed. You'll find good flavors at this location, still worth stopping by. Wheelchair accessibility: The flooring is pretty level, no steep ramps or stairs to worry about. Just got to get through the door. Dietary restrictions: There is pork and soy on the menu.
Not a particular fan of spicy but the Lamb Cumin Noodles need to be ordered as Regular. The spices used are pretty great If it's too spicy for you, like it was for me, use the black vinegar which will neutralize the spiciness for you Stewed Pork Bun was also great
Not bad! Noodles were delish but didn’t really enjoy the dumplings - the meat was a bit too dense and dry. Will come back to try out more.
