Story

What do snakes, lizards, and tarantulas have in common with birds, dogs, and cats? They're all great pets you can adopt at Zoo Creatures. Our team is made up of environmentalists and quirky animal lovers, and we’re here to share helpful tips and advice with pet owners. That includes everything from which food to buy to proper care for your rare pets. For those looking to learn, we also host educational tours at NERD, the New England Reptile Distributors, which is an experience that shouldn’t be missed when you're in Plaistow. Awesome location with a tremendous variety of reptiles, arachnids, birds, fish, you name it! Easily the best selection of animals on any pet store I've been I to in years. Worth any length drive.

Definitely go on a week day if you have detailed questions about aquatics. Their aquatics person is awesome but the weekend help is not as knowledgeable, as you may expect. They still do a great job for you, though.

Hands down one of the best pet stores in Northeast Massachusetts, Southern NH.

This was an awesome place to spend some of our day! We have two young children, three and one year old, and they loved this place. I thought there was an awesome selection of critters to look at/buy. The staff seem were experienced in the care and needs of each animal.

Zoo Creatures/New England Reptile Distributors is the last place you should consider purchasing an animal from. I've been into the facility several times, and every time I'm greeted by a mess.  Immediately inside the door, there's a number of used enclosures for sale, complete with the mess left inside by their previous inhabitants.   The shelves and product inside are covered in a thick layer of dust. Inside the enclosures with animals inside them I've seen mold, several day old fecal matter, enclosures for animals requiring high humidity with no water at all, holes large enough to be hazardous in enclosure walls, and tubs full of feeder mice with shed snake skin inside (an excellent way to communicate diseases among them).  I've purchased feeder rats that had bugs on them from the crickets, respiratory issues, and several that died before I had the chance to feed them to my animals (within 5 hours of bringing them home).  I understand that they have a lot of animals to care for, but part of animal husbandry is knowing when you're taking on too much, and simply aren't capable of properly caring for all of them.  The owner claimed in a reply to a different review that every enclosure is cleaned daily, but that's simply not possible with the volume of animals they have, and the amount of slacking their employees do.  The store is largely staffed by underage "volunteers" of the breeding facility upstairs.  Some of the staff is knowledgeable, but most are young kids that don't know much.  Better to get your animals from trusted breeders online, then from a place like this.

In response to their reply, I fail to see how snakes without water, with dirty water, with moldy enclosures, with large holes in enclosures could be misunderstood.

We had so much fun there! Be prepared that it will be really really hot and dress accordingly. We got to hold and see so many creatures.  I had a 3, 4, 7, and 11 year old with me. They all want to go back.

Zoo Creatures is incredible. They have a great selection of reptiles, aquatics, avians, and rodents! They are also very deticated to educating with their tours. If you ever have any questions, Zoo Creatures has the most knowledgeable and compassionate staff. Absolute must see if you are in NH or MA! It has been my dream ever since I was in tenth grade to work here so I might be a bit biased!
