There are multiple reasons why you should think twice before coming here. Although it may not seem like a big deal to some people, the lobby is so gross and disgusting. The doorhandle is covered with dirty layers of plastic tape and a large ledge that runs along the length of the storefront is covered and a thick layer of dust with hundreds of dead flies on it. I know they have rags and water there, so why not do the customers a favor and take a wet rag to the pace? Besides that they are horribly overpriced. They wanted to charge me upwards of $800 for a job that I'm getting done elsewhere for around $500. I might understand the higher cost if it was more of an upscale, professional place, but it's not. It's an old, crummy, disgusting, and unsanitary place and I will never go back.

I have an SUV that required transmission work and it was taken to the AAMCO in Las Cruces NM. They did the courtesy analysis and it came back with low fluid that smelt burnt and said rebuild or replace. They said they had the best transmission rebuild mechanic around so I went with that. It was quoted ~2100 which is understandable. It ended up costing ~4k. All was good. At ~120 days the transmission was acting up. It was taken back to AAMCO and the courtesy analysis said low fluid that smelt burnt. It was under warranty so they took a look and found they had to rebuild the whole transmission again. On the paperwork it was stated that the transmission had been abused and it was the customers fault. Not possible as the vehicle had not towed anything nor even been off road (4wheel drive). I will never know, but can assume a couple of things in my opinion. For the fluid level to be low at ~120 days the transmission was rebuilt substandard implying incompetency and the abuse claim was to pass the blame. The other, and more disturbing was due to the similar "courtesy inspections", this is a standard line that is put in to generate fraudulent rebuilds. It might even be a combination of both. I now have to question the substantial increase from the quote due to work I was told was necessary. It was also stated that they would not extend the warranty back to the 24 months due to company policy. My inquiries about this and the situation in general have not been addressed (answered) by corporate so since it is a franchise, I don't know if they just don't want to get involved or if that is just standard practice. The work was completed under warranty so the costs I am out are the additional ~2 weeks we had to rent a vehicle and 4 months of warranty. I checked BBB and go figure; it is not an accredited business. AVOID this place at all costs.

I would highly recommend visiting Richelle at AAMCO, I'm incredibly glad that I ended up stopping there! I sadly had my transmission fail a third time in 3 months in Las Cruces NM on a road trip. As unfortunate as my vehicle history has been, I was incredibly fortunate to stop at AAMCO and meet Richelle and her crew. She offered me a very reasonable price to diagnose my vehicle and figured out exactly what was wrong with it in about 30 minutes. She broke down exactly what was wrong with it in writing and verbally. She explained what they checked, what was failing, how she knew what was wrong, and what my options were. Although the prices she offered to fix it were again, very reasonable, I couldn't afford to get the transmission fixed a third time. I let her know this and let her know that I had a plane to catch in LA in a couple days and that I was thinking about trying to scrap it and take a bus home, so she offered me a third option. She said that if I wanted I could keep my truck safe at her shop, go home and figure out my finances and get back to her once I had a better idea if I wanted to get it fixed or just come back and take my stuff and ditch the truck or try to sell it. She also offered to figure out when the next bus to LA left, and offered to drive me to the station. And this is what I decided to do. She was so sweet and generous with her time (as well as Nate who was working there as well). After she showed me her cool stained glass projects, she drove me to town and she showed where I could get a bite and wait for the bus. If this type of compassion is a sign of the work they do at the shop, it would show that Richelle runs a shop that's not there to scam you or just take your money, but to make sure you leave happy. She could tell that she wasn't going to get that many dollars out of me, but she still took the time to do what she could for me, and didn't leave me stranded in Las Cruces not knowing what do do. Thanks so much, and I'll talk to you soon about what I'm going to do with my vehicle :)!!

This company went way above and beyond to help me with a timing belt issue I had when passing through Las Cruces. They stayed late on a Saturday to get my car in and diagnose the issue and then worked diligently to get me back on the road and on with the rest of my vacation. I'm also glad they warrantied all of the work they which gives me extra peace of mind. Nate was especially helpful along the way. I would recommend these guys every time.
