Great home base for hiking around the Adirondacks. Stayed in the campground for two nights during a cold, snowy weekend in February. We were welcome to warm by the fireplace in the main lodge and were able to rent snow shoes from there as well. Staff were very knowledgeable about local hikes and conditions.

While dining can feel rushed for the price, the Loj is a lovely place with friendly staff. It feels very warn and welcoming, and is well kept. One thing to note is that the bathrooms are shared, and the men's room is on the second floor, so keep that in mind if stairs are a challenge for you or someone else. Also, the WiFi is very slow. While browsing the web should be slow but doable. However, downloading is a nightmare. It takes 20 minutes to download a 10 mb. file, so download before you arrive! Also, streaming is impossible. But hey, maybe that's a good thing. Get off that phone and take a hike! If you are in a shared room, make sure to bring some earplugs: there will be snoring! If you don't have any, they are provided at the front desk 24/7. For as little as $30 a night, the Loj is a great place to stay for those who love the outdoors. Some corners are cut, but it shouldn't be a bother. I would definitely recommend!

I stayed at the ADK Loj for three days during the 2017 Christmas break. I booked a room with two beds, and that was excellent! Unlike a motel (or a hotel), they don’t change the bed sheets every day, and that’s understandable – you are in the wilderness! I was particularly impressed with the bathrooms; those were super clean with plenty of hot water, although you are expected not to WASTE the water. The main sitting room is my favorite; its very peaceful and you can spend your time resting, reading, or playing various board games, or play the piano if you know that (or even if you don’t – you are always welcome!). Moreover, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available 24 hours, and that’s a treat. The trailhead from the Loj leads to many high-peaks, including the Mount Marcy; I wouldn’t go into this detail. I would encourage everyone to visit the place. It's worth spending your time!!

The lean-tos were well built and the sites was beautiful. I definitely hope to go back soon.
