If rating this Avis “0 Stars” was possible, then I would. I use this location as it is closest to my home and the next closest away is way too far. That said, every experience has been negative. The people working there are consistently not at the counter for long periods of time (hence you have to wait 15 minutes just to return the car). I have been given cars that weren’t cleaned and smelled like smoke, with McDonald’s french fries on the ground, as well as cars that were a class level lower than what I reserved. I am an Avis Preferred member, but that has absolutely ZERO meaning to this location. I cringe at having to go to this Avis location.

Top line impression:  This place makes me so happy that my insurance company prefers Enterprise.
Grades:   vehicle I rented:  5*, Avis customer service 1 or 2*
My work uses Avis.  When I made the reservation, I asked if they could pick me up.  I remain astounded at their (corporate) answer:  "We will make a note on the reservation.  If the local office DOES NOT call you, they will not pick you up."  Not calling back is a policy????!!!
The shop is understaffed; it seems 1 guy runs around to do everything.  Most of the time when I tried calling, the call rolled into the (inter?)national call center.
The car was fine, so I can't complain about that.  I got 40 mpg driving around Appalachian (read: big hills) highways.
WARNING:  Avis offers this service for paying tolls for you on "cash-less" toll roads:  their clerk doesn't know details about it, so I had to check the web site:   Use the windshield-mounted toll widget one time, and Avis charges you $4 **per-day** fee (for the *entire* term of the rental,) of course in addition to the cost of tolls.   A complete scam.
Bottom line:  I'm not excited with Avis.

Do not go here!! When I came in there was no one behind the counter. There was a sign that said "we'll bright BACK" with a number to call if you need immediate assistance. I called the number which happened to go to an employee who was not working that day. He then called his manager but got no answer. I ended up waiting for 47 minutes before I left.

90% of the time I use Hertz for their employees in all locations are knowledgeable.  But this time there was no Hertz in Gaithersburg, MD, so called Avia location there to ask about shuttle to Washington Metro rail station - which the map says is in the same shopping mall.  Office personnel had no idea it was even in the same parking lot.

2nd time here. Both times had to wait in line for an hour with only 2 people in front of me. Crazy slow process. I can get in and out at the airport in less than 5 mins. Why it takes an hour here is beyond me. Avoid this place if you value your time. If you must use this location then get here very early. Forget trying to call them directly. AVIS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!
