When i first signed up to BB&T
I Thought I would have a great experience due to the fact that my
Mother-in-law has been banking with them for about 10 years. Wow! Was I wrong! I’m on social security disability therefore a fixed income. I use these funds to pay my rent. Like I said, I’m disabled so I do my shopping online but nothing major due to the fact
I have to be on budget. I’m currently battling pneumonia. I haven’t used
my card in quite awhile therefore I haven’t been following my online banking. When I finally started feeling a little better, I checked this account (I mainly use my Wells Fargo account). My jaw dropped! BB&T HAD CHARGED ME $580 IN OVERDRAFT FEES!! After reviewing my account I realized I was charged for items I never purchased or authorized. I called BB&T crying and I was assured a dispute would be placed and I would receive my money back. Now, yesterday, not even 5 days later they sent me a letter stating they had conducted a thorough investigation and all the charges were placed by me. I ask you, how do you conduct a ‘thorough investigation in 2 days (for 3 days shipping time)Now,
I’m not denying I shop online but some of these companies I’ve never even heard of!! Also, one company overcharged me by about $200. Yes, it was under my name however I never AUTHORIZED it! Even if I have my debit card on file and it’s not a month-to-month charging basis and you pay for what you buy, how can they possibly charge me for items I never authorized?!? Also, on many of these transactions, i didn’t have the funds in the account and BB&T CHARGES ME $580 FOR OVERDRAFT FEES AND THEY WONT EVEN GIVE ME ATLEAST ONE BACK!! BB&T IS MONEY THEIR UNSYMPATHETIC! DO YOU KNOW WHAT A MIDDLE CLASS FAMILY COULD DO WITH A CHUNK OF MONEY LIKE $580? DONT  BANK WITH THIS BANK, I CRIED FOR DAYS BC OF WHAT THEY DID TO ME!!!

They will take money out of your savings account. An account that I've had at the branch since it was Washington Mutual. An account that was holding money in "safe keeping". They decided to steal money from it.
