Story

The year was 1995 and Mr. Ed Thomas was attending EIU, needed extra income and felt Charleston could use another quality bike shop and thus, Bike & Hike Charleston was born. The two shops have continued to grow and evolve over the last 20 years to provide much more than just a bicycle, but an experience of what a bike can do for the family and the community. The biking industry continues to grow and flourish as the Baby Boomers are looking for means to get out and get in shape and have fun and we are honored to help keep that momentum moving forward. When in comes to cycling, whether it be for racing or just pure cruising enjoyment around the neighborhood, we can help and look forward to serving each and every one of you. I love my bikes they are like part of the family to me and I would not just let any one work on my bikes. Rob is a great guy always gets me back on the trail. he is  fast at straightening my rims from all the bumps on the road and I buy all my parts from there to.
   If they have to order it that can take 2 or 3 days on average there was only on time it took a week for my part but it was a special order so I understood why. Thanks Rob your the best

Great place to get a bike. I hadn't been on a bicycle since i was 16, so i had no idea what i was getting into when a friend and I walked in. Robby took most of an hour educating me and having us ride various bikes around town to get familiar with them. What impressed me even more was how he helped my friend with a few minor issues on his bike, which was purchased elsewhere. Rather than telling him to bring it in for service, or blindly pushing upgrades, Robby gave him several tips to try at home, which fixed the problem. After taking the time to help fit a bike to me, he thanked us for checking the place out when I told him I wanted to sleep on the purchase. 

When I returned several days later to grab the bike, Robby took more time to walk me through a hand full of simple accessories after asking how I planned to use it. By the way, all of the accessories bought the same day of a bike purchase were 10% off. 

Fast forward about three weeks, I stopped in for a couple more items after putting quite a few miles on the bike. Not only did Robby remember the bike i bought, but he remembered me and was very interested in how it was performing for me. When I brought up a small issue, he walked me through adjustments to correct the problem myself. 

Keep in mind this is a small, local business with only two employees at the moment. With the benefits of a small shop, such as personalized service, you also may have drawbacks, such as high workload on the guys in the shop. In my opinion, the trade off is worth it. Give these guys a chance and they'll really set you up.

I initially went into the store just wanting a bike to rehab my knee, and Robbie helped me out tremendously. I have since been in multiple times and have bought quite a few more things such as apparel and other additions I have added to my bike. Robbie and the guys at Bike & Hike helped me out quite a bit when it came down to what I was looking for and what I needed to get the most out my biking experience. Every time I had anything ordered or worked on it was done in a timely manner and always of the best quality and service. If you're looking to get a new bike or just upgrade your existing one, I would DEFINITELY recommend visiting the store.

Ive been in the store a few times and have had all great experiences. They treat everyone with respect, and try to get you a great deal on bikes and accessories. I receive deals and special event info in my email and they always contact me in a timely manner to let me know when my items are ready in the store. Thank you Robbie and Bike n Hike for your service, its good to know there are nice people out there to help other stay fit and keep riding!

Rob has been very helpful with all of my purchases and has offered a lot of great advice and encouragement. I highly prefer Bike and Hike over the larger sports stores, and will be back for all of my cycling needs.
