Blackbird was pretty good. The lasagna was worth five stars on its own, but the pizza and the radiatore had some room for improvement. Not bad, just fine. We were also a little surprised to see that the menu was mostly pizza, so make sure to check the menu for yourself. I don't mind that the other options are limited. A focused menu usually means that every dish has been perfected, though we found some of them to be just shy of that mark.
I have 3 words for you… Wood. Fired. Oven. *drool* Mouthwatering flavors in every dish. I love sitting at the bar overlooking the kitchen and watching the magic happen. This talented team serves up deliciousness dish after dish. The pizzas are absolutely incredible, the meatballs and fresh bread in marinara is *chef’s kiss* and the drinks are delicious. Make sure Blackbird is on your list when dining in Bozeman.
To me this is the best restaurant in Bozeman . The restaurant gets really busy, they keep seats for walk-in customers. They don't put names on the wait-list over the telephone. They have happy hour everyday from 16:30-17:30 on the barside We didn't have to wait to long to get a seat, even though the restaurant was quite busy. It was a beautiful summer evening so we decided to eat at an outside. The employees were friendly and helpful. Really good food, especially the pizza that was baked in a wood fire oven. The antipasti are also delicious. Sorry for the picture with the half eaten pizza.
This was my absolute favorite restaurant in Bozeman. Everything was so delicious. I snagged a seat at the bar right by where Chef Kenan Anderson was expediting the orders and training new staff. I was so rapt up in watching the whole kitchen ritual, I forgot to snap a photo of the chef. The restaurant, btw, was totally booked/jammed by 5pm. I started my dinner with the goat liver pate scrumptious! and then, having watched all the pizzas rolling out of the oven, I ordered the Mostarda pizza prosciutto, grana padano, mozzarella and arugula. SUBLIME!! I could only eat half. Took the rest back to the hotel for the lobby staff - they were thrilled! I also ordered the chocolate budino for dessert - it was good but not on par with the pate or the pizza. Blackbird is also another "wine and beer only" place but in this instance, I forgot all about my perfect manhattan and just focused on that pizza.
We were here skiing in Big Sky and looking up the good restaurants in town, this place showed up as top rated. However, it has been fully booked throughout the week after, so I called them and was suggested to try walk up, as they do leave seats for that. We arrived at 8:30pm to avoid the prime time, only to find it still fully packed. The host told me the wait gonna be 40min, apparently they do extend hours when there’re guests arriving late, very accommodating. We decided it’ll be too late and changed to order to go. The host was very nice, after shuffling things around and looking through last-min cancellation, he was able to seat us, we were very happy and appreciative. We ordered the duck liver pate, chicken leg confit, and a spacey pepperoni pizza. While waiting for the food, the aroma in the restaurant almost made me drooling- it’s a mix of roasted vegi and meat, together with fresh baked wheat, and super refreshing herbs, it makes me forget we are in snowy Montana during a 30F winter night. Not for long our tape came, the bread simply blowed my mind - puffy yet chewy, full of wheat flavor and with a perfect crust, the duck liver is moist yet not oily, it is mixed with refreshing herbs, by its side, there’s pickled red onion and mustard seed, it’s appetizer at perfection! Later it came the chicken and pizza- as expected, both are so delicious that we ate all the food knowing that we gonna stay up late tonight because of overeating… The chicken leg is crispy on the outside and juicy and tender inside. The pizza is something else, it is a bit burnt on the crust, yet that aroma it brings out from wheat reminds me what good food is meant to be. We’ll definitely be back again, can’t wait to try other dishes on the menu.
Possibly one of the best wood fired pizzas I’ve ever had. Simple and delicious ingredients. The pasta was amazing. Going back tomorrow.
Really delicious meal in a great space. I especially recommend the meatball appetizer- the sauce is excellent and a little spicy. Entrees we’re also delicious.Dine in: Yes
This is one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Bozeman. I really enjoyed dining here as everything I had was delicious. They pay very close attention to detail here and it’s not hard to notice that. The restaurant is very organized to get you seated and served as quickly as possible, even when there are a lot of people there. We had the pizza and it definitely hit the spot for us. I think you need to try this place if you are thinking about it, you won’t be disappointed!
What a wonderful place ! I highly recommend the duck liver YES. TRY IT ! & the rosemary mocktail. Pizza was delicious even tho I forgot to add arugula. Had the Funghi pizza & loved it ! Will be back for sure. What a wonderful environment!Dine in: Yes
We came here looking for Italian food. Love the ambience and the look of the place. Our server was great and helped us a lot. We came in late and because of that they were out of some entrees. The appetizers were great. The pizza was good. But our Italian dishes were a little bland. I think we just had a average experience because we got there too close to closing. We will try it again.
