Truly a consistent behemoth of a restaurant which never seems to slow down. I have been coming here for ten years now. Hardly a thing has changed, nor should it. Recently, the menu was shrunk leaving the mainstays and not much more. That's okay, everyone comes here for the same things anyways. The daily specials almost always have something fun and exciting to try as well. The drink menu is incredible here. One of the best beer lists I've ever seen and plenty of other great drinks. The service is immaculate. No matter the volume of patrons, this place has the perfect service ratio worked out. I've never once found myself waiting long for food. The space is super cool, it's in an old train depot with tons of seating options including a patio. The food rocks. No matter the item, it rocks. Not much more to say.
Loud, boisterous, but laid back and fun with delicious food and at least one amazing brew. The interior of the Ale Works is wonderfully done and the lighting is perfect; This place really nailed it with décor and ambience. That said, this is a loud and high energy restaurant, definitely not a place for a quiet and relaxing dinner. The food was fantastic, cooked and seasoned perfectly, plated beautifully, and served hot and fresh. I had the Montana Meatloaf with Idaho Bison and she had the traditional Schnitzel. Both were excellent! I also order the Scotch Ale - this is a great brew that balances the heaviness so well you only focus on the taste. The only issue we had was the server. She seemed put off or something and avoided the table as much as possible. No smile, no follow-up on the meal, nearly missed our drink order. Not sure what the attitude was about and it put a negative energy on an otherwise terrific night out. I'd definitely come back though and recommend you check it out.
I wanted to like it, it seemed like a vibrant place. Beer selection was great, no complaints if you just want to stop and have a few brews. The servers were friendly as well. But there was two issues with the food, first, while the pork meatloaf did taste well, as it was also the dish that was recommended, the vegetables were nearly hard as raw, I told the staff about it and they kinda just said “oh that sucks”…kinda a weird response. The second was the meatloaf musta had something off, I won’t go too graphic on google reviews, but the next day, let’s say I was more in the bathroom then walking.
The elk burger at Montana Ale Works was an absolute delight! The level of care and attention to detail that went into its preparation was noticeable. It was clear that the chef had put a lot of thought and effort into making this burger as tasty and satisfying as possible. I can't recommend this place enough!Food: 5/5
Tried Elk and Bison here for the first time!! Both were delicious and unique. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful, answering any questions we had. Overall, I was very satisfied with my visit and recommend it to anyone visiting Bozeman!Dine in: Yes
The food was absolutely to die for! I had the Elk Burger with the truffle fries, definitely worth a little extra! Went there for my best friend’s 21st, and we couldn’t have had a better experience. Our server was Almon, and he was truly phenomenal!!! He seriously deserves a huge raise Also, their huckleberry cream ale made this not-so-avid beer drinker leave happy. Most definitely stopping again when I’m back in the area!
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Special shout out to the staff for the free entertainment w the laughing contest. The food was amazing, and so were the drinks. Would 100% go back anytime.
Fabulous space formerly a railroad freight house. Spectacular interior and beautiful outdoor patio space. Packed the night I went. Sat at the bar - very friendly staff and fellow diners were super helpful with tips on where else to go in Bozeman. I had the bison potstickers which were excellent. Also had the grilled shrimp ceviche which sounds like an oxymoron but was quite good. And the bartender made a perfect "Perfect Manhattan."
Went on a very busy Tuesday evening. Was able to be texted when table was ready. Our waitress was fantastic and knew we had an event to go to. Ordered their special: Jambalaya. $20. Overall a smaller portion. flavor was okay, small shrimp. Lacking in protein. Wouldn't order again. Pork Snitzle: $20 large portion, the German potatoes and cabbage were light bit tasted good. Mashed potatoes I got for an extra $2. homemade but creamy not chunky. Also good flavor. For addtional mushroom gravy for $2.50. Unfortunately I got a side bowl of the gravy for the mashed potatoes but none came with my Snitzle. Waitress fixed promptly and took both charges off. Pork was nice and crispy, decent flavor and good size. would order again. Huckleberry margarita was their special. $10. Too much ice and too bitter. lacked the huckleberry flavor. A bit mild too on alcohol level. would not order again. Overall had a good time and would be back
Whenever I go out of town I Ask where the best place in town is to get a steak. At Bozeman Best Western the girl said Montana ale works. She was absolutely right it was the best robot I've had in my life. Underneath the picture of the perfect steak is a whole bunch of grilled carrots and green beans and mashed potatoes. "Cooked to perfection"
