Ask for Jim! He’s a fantastic server and a down home Montana man. The menu items are delicious! The Brussels sprouts make a great starter. The star of the show for me, though was the green bean casserole. This ain’t your mamma’s cream of mushroom soup y’all… it’s good eats.
I had a really lovely experience! The staff was very accommodating and was able to squeeze me in after a failed attempt to get take out at the only other place open on the holiday. Do not expect fast food. They make a lot of the menu items to order. If they are out of an appetizer, they will make it for you fresh and that to me is worth the wait! I ordered the braised short ribs and the mac and cheese. The beef was fork tender and the wine demi glaze was perfect. The mac and cheese was really delicious but if you're watching your sodium, be careful because they use salty cheeses. I'm really happy with the food and the service. They made my Christmas a lot merrier and I will be going back- Thank you! Tips: make a reservation, expect long cooking times if they are at capacity- don't go here if you're expecting to get in and out in 30 minutes unless you're ordering as salad, as they are not fully staffed. But do expect the food to be really good! It would be a great place for a date night. The ambiance is nice and they are reasonably priced for what offer.
Went here a few months ago and it was AWFUL!!! I hate writing bad reviews but I cannot believe this place is still open. I talked to a lot of friends after my experience to find out that bad experiences are very common! Here’s what happened in my experience: my boyfriend and I walked in and it took a while for anyone to even seat us. We were there just a couple hours before they closed so they weren’t very busy at all. There were about 3-4 other tables. The owner I assume because he was in ordinary street clothes sat us. Our waitress was new but very kind and was doing her best. She got us our drinks quickly. We ordered our food and an appetizer, then our waitress came back to tell us that the appetizer was sold out. No problem, we understood. We ordered 2 burgers - 1 elk, 1 normal, both with cheese. After over an hour of waiting for our food, we were visually irritated. The owner came over and asked us if we were too cold. The temperature wasn’t the problem. When we finally tried leaving and asking for our tab, the owner said that the waitress didn’t put in the order but we knew that was a lie, as she had put in the order when she learned the appetizer was out. The waitress was right there and said she did put in the order. The owner argued with my boyfriend about it and finally ended up comping our meal and giving us our food. We paid for our drinks. Our burgers were cold, undercooked, both beef, only one had cheese, and it was just gross!! I decided to finally write this because people need to stop going here.
What a wonderful dining experience thanks to Brian and Michael's kindness. What a heavenly "Squire Burger" my daughter and I both had! Highly recommend, also an outstanding glass of of organic Argentina glass of Malbec. Try this beautiful gem and deliciously ENJOY the romantic ambiance and unique lights
Shocked this place is still open. I thought we had an isolated experience until I read other reviews. We had a horrible experience and waited half an hour for water/drinks and two hours for food. The cook did a wonderful job. The food was great. But took two hours to be delivered. They took too long to let my husband know they were out of his order & even longer to tell us the soup starter we had ordered was out of stock as well. Drink orders were wrong & very slow. It was clear the waitress was unhappy with management and management wasn’t doing anything to help. They offered to comp our meal, but honestly that wasn’t worth what we experienced. Apparently the night got worse as other reviews report bloody knives being given out to eat with. Definitely would not recommend eating/spending money here. Too bad bc this place is cute & in a great location.
6:15 reservation, seated on time. 20 minutes pass, then the server fills our water glasses. by 6:45 our drink and food orders are taken, and we get our appetizer and drinks around 7. we’re told they’re out of one of the entrees we ordered, so we choose a replacement. one hour later, there is still no food on the table and we are told they ran out of the soup we had been waiting on since the start. im not the kind of gal who requests discounts or writes bad reviews, but we asked for our entire bill to be comped after 2 hours of being seated because the management in the restaurant was poorly handling the situation and it was clear that our server was on the verge of tears trying to make it through the night. i feel compelled to create a record of our experience to encourage changes and hopefully this restaurant could become a really lovely place to eat. the food sounded great, we would have loved to enjoy our meal there.
This place has heaps of potential. Great location. Great setting and atmosphere. The host was a little odd, but I think he was just trying to hard. The food is overpriced for what you receive. But the effort to make a culinary experience is there, the execution is lacking. The servers were extremely friendly and made every excuse and apology for the kitchen. They need communication and organization.
Excellent cuisine, It’s a great experience. Left the best impression. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Terrific wines, food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. I highly recommend the Squire House.
My wife and I just visited Bozeman for the first time and chose to eat here for dinner one night. It was the perfect spot for us! We loved the food, atmosphere and style. The service was excellent. We even met the owner who was super welcoming and a joy to talk to. Highly recommend!
One of the worst dining experiences ever. Our server was clearly high as a kite. She ran into walls, left all wine glasses in front of the two 18-year-olds, piled dirty dishes on the table next to us, couldn't open champagne. The appetizers were pretty good and timely, nothing else was. We waited about 30 minutes for entrées after appetizers. At this point 2 of the 8 arrived. then another 20-30 minutes, then 2 more entrees arrived cold. Those were sent back and returned a bit later, still cold. After about 45 minutes from the first entrees arriving and 4 still M.I.A., we threw in the towel. We offered to pay for our booze and whatever the manager thought was fair. Apparently "fair" to him was to pay for everything except what had not come out yet. And he added gratuity. We walked home hungry and ordered pizza.
