Story

ORIGINS OF BLACKWALL HITCH:

In 1862 the shipping industry was strong in London's Blackwall Port and ships were in and out in quick order. Many families left their farms and machine posts to engage in an adventure that would not only change their world, but the world we enjoy today. The ships set sail and docked at the sandy coasts of Maryland and Virginia and other parts of the Eastern Seaboard. The strong hooks attached to the docks were the only connection the boats would have, and a nimble shipmate would need to dock the boat and make it secure in a flash. The unique blackwall hitch knot allows for a fast connection as the line draws itself tighter and tighter as the vessel rises and falls with the tide.

THE CONNECTION:

The Blackwall Hitch restaurant in Eastport will draw on this rich history of exploration, adventure, and especially connection. While harkening back to the past and our roots, Blackwall Hitch will provide customers a high quality contemporary yet comfortable gathering place to connect with one another in Historic Downtown Annapolis/Eastport.

From the moment you enter Blackwall Hitch, you sense the attention to detail that has been harnessed to bring you and your companions a complete and satisfying dining experience. You sense the urban chic vibe with a connection to history, see and feel the attention to detail with comfortable, creative spaces for gatherings, smell the salty and savory aromas wafting from the oyster bar and dining area, and hear the bustle and music in the pub. After receiving easy-going, yet excellent service, sampling a signature Blackwall Hitch cocktail, and savoring a palate-and-hunger-satiating dinner, the voice in your ear says, "I have found my new favorite place!"
