Did not expect such a gourmet chicken sandwich and was wildly impressed! The breading was perfectly crispy with the most tender, juicy meat, seasoned perfectly on a fantastic bun. I had the classic chicken sandwich, added their vinegar-base coleslaw per the hosts recommendation, pickles to boot! Hands down one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had, and it's right here in my own back yard in La Mesa! The fries were perfect too, I love the thinner style think McDonald's/In-N-Out thickness but the seasoning is really what made it, absolutely wonderful. Also, I greatly appreciate a bar, sitting there was the perfect spot to enjoy a perfect meal with a few beers. Looking forward to returning! Parking: Parking is mostly easy, there are quite a few parking lots around the outskirts of the downtown area. The coin operated no credit card parking meters are annoying.
I came here with my parents on our first day of vacation in San Diego, and it ended up being exactly what we were looking for. Our server was so attentive and friendly, and the food was fantastic. My mom and I split the six piece tender combo, but all three of us could have easily shared it. The chicken was juicy and tender with just the right amount of breading. The fries and corn biscuit were flavorful. The Cali Gold sauce is delightful, and so is the hard lemonade. The Bird of Paradise drink was so so, and the homemade pickles were a bummer. But those little things aren’t enough to dampen the experience!
Tried this spot today with the family. Let me tell you, what a great spot! Restaurant is clean and welcoming. Great Service and food was delicious. I tried the So cal chicken sandwich which has a bit of a spicy kick and finished the whole thing. Fries are great too. Make sure you try the golden Cali sauce. Daughter got the garlic Parmesan wings and she loved it. Wife got the standard chicken sandwich and enjoyed it as well. She said it’s the best chicken sandwich she’s had in San Diego. Thank you to the staff for great service. Compliments to the cook because the food was on point. Definitely going back. If you are reading this, the spot is absolutely worth a try!
This is a simple and unassuming restaurant on first glance, but walking in we are greeted by good music and super friendly staff. Anthony waited on our table and was PHENOMENAL at recommendations. We ordered the Cali Hot Sandwich and the Seared Sandwich along with a side of mashed potatoes, a light beer, a Cucumber Refresher, and a Boss Bird cocktail. There was not a single bite that was not savory and delicious! The fries were perfectly crispy, the mashed potatoes were creamy and the right kind of spicy, the sandwiches were cooked to absolute perfection! Trust me, come HUNGRY and ready! Thank you, Anthony!
Great food. I had the Cali-Hot Chicken Sandwich. I loved how the coleslaw did not have too much mayo in it, or at all. Fries were deliciously seasoned. The corn bread with chili jam was really good.Food: 5/5
Clean atmosphere fry's on fresh and crispy and hot. Chicken tenders are huge portion. Party punch cocktail was very tasty and strong enough to pack a punch.Stubborn Soda  varieties of flavors. They have a variety of choices of combos and meals. I recommend anybody who loves chicken to come here and take a bite.
Oh loved it!!!! Sooo good! Our friend recommended it they just opened up 3 weeks ago and we were in the area so stopped by to try. Super clean and super welcoming, the service was outstanding, the food was amazing-fresh and well prepared. Staff checked in after we received food to check if all is well and the manager or the owner, not sure also stopped by to see if we are happy with food. I hope they will deliver too! Definitely will be back
The juiciest fried chicken I've ever had. That poblano gravy is off the charts good. There wasn't anything on the plate that wasn't totally delicious.This is a scratch kitchen doing things right.Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
First time...ordered 6 piece tenders meal. Takeout. Chicken plump and juicy. Fries cold and soggy. Sauces just ok. Pickles nothing special. Cornbread best thing of meal. Will have to go back and try something else. Hope they improve.
I stopped in today with my sister and nieces to give this place a try after reading the reviews. It is extremely clean and simple inside. We arrived right after they opened so unfortunately it didn't smell like yummy food quite yet, which kind of worried us. I ordered the Cali Hot burger, light on the spice. This sandwich was amazing! I loved the light crispy batter on the super tender chicken and the coleslaw and sweet pickles helped to cut the spice. My sister ordered the kale salad with a piece of fried chicken on the side and she thoroughly enjoyed her food. We also ordered the mac and cheese which was amazing, such a rich cheese flavor in a nice creamy sauce. The corn biscuits were very light and tender and were perfect with the butter and honey on top! The peanut butter cookies were the perfect finish to the meal!! We really enjoyed this restaurant and would definitely go back! Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs, macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders and cookies. Parking: Due to it being in downtown la Mesa, the parking sucks overall. We parked a block or so away and then walked over. Make sure to bring money for the meters.
