Huge! Beautiful! Close to restaurants! Great and Friendly staff! Many things to do or just sit and enjoy the sound of the birds. I got a bird book from my dad that past last October. That book and the Colorado State Parks have given me a new hobby and a way to get my mind off of my daily problems! This Is Gods Land!

While Boyd Lake might seem a good destination once you drive through a suburban neighborhood to get to the park entrance you realize Boyd Lake State Park is just a large Loveland city park. If you’re looking to get away from the sounds of the city life this is Not the place to try to find it. 
 The bird watching was good with plenty of the usual denizens and the fishing was good as well but the sounds of emergency vehicles and trucks and motorcycles racing through the night reminds you that you are very much imbedded in Front Range Expansion.
 I recommend taking the time to drive South to St Vrain, at least you know about traffic, or East to Jackson Lake State Park. 
 P.S. Our camp host was surly when we asked about services in the park. Very strange vibe, one camp loop open but 5 camp hosts(?).

I like Boyd Lake going there for years walleye fishing is good nice Trails bike pass nice place to camp but I live close so I'm there all the time

Great place for boating and fishing.  Fishing from shore as well as boat.  Gets busy in the summer.  Parks pass required, or $8 at the gate

This is a beautiful park that has amazing picture shots across the lake. You do need to make sure you buy a pass. Many people have been ticketed because they went in early and thought they could get away with it.
